I reload. So I compared these 155 grain to the 150 grain Nosler. The A max is far superior. From now on, I will only buy the A-max

This is a nice bullet ...

This is a nice bullet from the few I shot this past Friday. I have been trying out some different loads in my 20" 700 chambered in .308 Win and this is the 4th bullet that I have tested. The first two were factory Federal and Winchester. The 3rd was Hornady's cheap 150 grain FMJ, after firing about 50 or so I decided to use that ammo for plinking. Now as for this bullet its shown the best accuracy from my rifle. Using a minimum charge of Win 748 seated @2.800 I have so far gotten the best group from my rifle at about 1-1.5" at 100 yards. With a little tweak in the powder charge and variation in OAL this should be an easy sub MOA round.

This bullet likes to be ...

This bullet likes to be run hot. I use a bunch of RL15 (Over max, but worked up). It's about 1/2 MOA at 100 meters, more than good enough for targets and hunting. The 178 AMAX is much more suited to my rifle, but this is a good all around bullet. I shoot it in 2 bolt guns, and my M1 Garand. Its a match/hunting bullet. Hornady Will tell you if you call, or you can read what they say about the design in the Hornady Reloading Manual 8th Edition.

I'm adding a second ...

I'm adding a second review due to a new rifle. I've been experimenting with an FNAR outfitted with a light 20" fluted barrel and discovered that these 155's loaded over a mid range dose of Varget will consistently shoot very impressive groups. This bullets performance is nothing short of excellent.

Even with bad loading ...

Even with bad loading (poor brass fit) the bullets hit .25 MOA at 200 yards out of a 26# EA.Brown co. 1-12" barrel on a savage model 10. Absolutely amazing bullet.

Used these 155 Amax's out ...

Used these 155 Amax's out of my Remington 700 BDL .30-06 to shoot F-class. Over a load of Varget I shot a 143/150 at 500 yards practice match. If I could read wind better I would have cleaned it. At the very most a moa of vertical dispersion. This is a very accurate bullet.

I do not know what they ...

I do not know what they mean by "this is not a hunting bullet", I have shot three antelope and two deer with this bullet in .300 RUM, and could not be more pleased. All five animals dropped without a second shot with no meat lost. What more can you ask for? Best 5 shot group yet, in a factory Remington 700, is 1.2" at 300 yards as measured from a Leica LRF 1200 range finder. I know target shooters are worse than fishermen for exaggeration, but after three months of reloading, me and this bullet made this group =) down side to this and nearly every other Hornady bullet is that they are forever out of stock =(

Somewhat new to target ...

Somewhat new to target shooting and using premium bullets. Had been using cheap FMJ 150 gr bulk bullets in loads with my Ruger Hawkeye 30-06 to get started. I was getting ho-hum 2-3 inch groups at 100 yards. Next, tried these 155 gr A-max bullets with my IMR 4895 starting load and the first time out was getting 1 MOA. That just made me a believer in money spent on premium bullets! Plan on continuing load development to improve from there.

Its real simple this ...

Its real simple this bullet shoots 10 shot 1/2 inch groups at 100 yards all the time with Varget powder in my Remington 700 LTR. I can't wait to try it out at longer ranges. Quality is there.

This is another ...

This is another outstanding bullet by Hornady!!! I am achieving ragged hole groups @ 100yrds. Using RL-15 towards the higher end with weight sorted Lapua brass and BR primers. This combination is awesome out of my stock Rem 700 SPS Sporter 308 win. With this recipe I was able to get my average F.P.S. @ 2668 with only a 25 F.P.S. spread between shots.I highly recommend this bullet, it will do most anything. Great for target as well as hunting!!! Buy it, take the time to weight sort your brass, work the load and watch it perform. P.S. I seated on the lands.
