These kits use standard threads:

.17 cal. = 5-40

Rifle/pistol = 8-32

Shotgun = 10-32

This kit uses the .17 cal rod, 5-40 thread, and an adapter to 8-32 thread for the rifle and pistol caliber accessories included.

Standard accesories from any manufacturer except Outers will work with the rods and adapters in this kit.

Everything you will ever need to clean any gun with from a 10 ga all the way down to the tiny 17 mach 2 except for solvent and oil. I got mine for Christmas and it is all I use now. The rods have a built in joint to make them spin to follow the rifeling and they were VERY tight to start with but some Break Free C.L.P. on them and they are fine now. And the case is handy to help keep everything in one place if you have the habbit of misplacing things like I do.

I got this product as a gift from my wife (otherwise it would have gone back instantly after I saw how cheap everything was.) The rods do not fit well together. They bend and break with mild pressure. The large bore brushes do not fit in ANY of the rods so they are totally useless. The only thing I can clean is my small caliber pistols. This whole kit is just waiting to break- including the junk case. For $50 you should get better. I would not recommend this for anyone especially not for a gift. P.S. I still love you honey-It's the thought that counts:)

The small brass rods are easy to bend or break. I am impressed with Midwayusa and DAC. Midwayusa customer serivce provided a phone number for DAC Gunmaster. When I called today they said they will send a replacement set (the rods) out in the morning. Great Customer Service for both Midwayusa and DAC Gunmaster...

The jags are plastic and break easily. This is a fact and I have been cleaning weapons for 25 years and the kicker here is that you cannot buy replacement jags anywhere. I've looked forever with no luck so the kit is useless.

I recommend that you DO NOT purchase this product. By mistake Ive purchased 2 of these cleaning kits and they each had the identical issues. The brass rods are of poor quality of material. Ive broken every section of rod for all of the different sizes. The problem mainly is where the pieces screw together. They bend easily with minimum pressure then eventually snap. This is where all of mine have broken. The mop heads are also cheap and wear out easily. The covering starts to deteriorate after about the 5th or 6th use. Also, it appears that the metal that the hold the mops is very susceptible to chemical corrosion from solvents. The wire brushes have similar issues and wear out quickly. Finally the case itself is of poor quality. If you put other items in the case such as extra cleaning patches, brushes, etc (Not to the point that force is needed to close the case.) the backing will crack. The only items that I found that were good was the jags but they also have a tendency to bend at the attachment point. Im in my late 50s and Ive been shooting since I was about 8 years old. Ive cleaned many firearms over that time period. Up until using this product Ive had very few issues with brands with their aluminum rods.

I have used this kit several times and I have found it to do an excellent job. I would reccomend this to anyone that wants a clean gun, as this kit is very good quality. I was very pleased with it's adaptability. I have bought a second one as a gift.

Like the above said It is great minus the insert that hold all of the parts. That is thin cheap plastic, but then again the whole thing doesn't cost a lot. It is a great deal to build up a base cleaning kit, and will suit most without adding anything else. My only complaint is that it doesnt have a place to store the solvents/oils.

While this kit has a lot of stuff in it the parts are of marginal quality. As a reviewer pointed out the patches are no good, order different patches. They fall apart without solvent, I didnt have the patients to get any of the handles to fit the 22 caliber rod so I didn't use a handle. You also need solvent. I used the jags and they worked well. For the price I cant complain. For a set of high quality cleaning supplies you are looking at 2-3x the money. This is what it is. I can't give it a 5 or a 1.

Rods are flimsy, the slotted jags are not strong enough to push down a barrel with minimum pressure, nothing screws together properly but the case is nice. I threw out the stuff that was in it, put in a new piece of foam and cut it out to store my extra Contender barrels.

Cleaning components are good quality; plastic storage tray in the case is thin and does not have anywhere to store other equipment or supplies. It is a great way to get the equipment you need to clean several different firearms inexpensively. I am very pleased with the purchase.

I am extremely disappointed with the quality of this product. The plastic threads break very easily, the cleaning patches dissolve almost instantly upon application of solvent, the metal parts are flimsy and the kit does not lend itself to easy use with all the adaptors you have to sort through to find one that will mate parts. Also did not allow me to do away with other kits as there is no provision for more than minimal supply of patches and absolutely no solvent or lube. Big waste of money. Should have returned it upon receipt.
