Rem Oil lacks the ...

Rem Oil lacks the marketing buzz created for other much more expensive high tech gun lubricants with their claims of "metal conditioning" and implied unofficial military endorsements. But Rem Oil is an excellent gun lubricant.I don't care for the all-in-one products that claim to clean, lubricate, prevent corrosion, etc. Lubrication and corrosion prevention go together, but cleaning is another matter, so compromises must be made. I'd rather have a good cleaner and a good lubricant. A universal product does nothing well.A self-professed gun enthusiast did a film strength comparison between most of the major gun lubricants, about 20 products in all. The test was a worst case simulation, with an aluminum rod chucked into a lathe, spun at 1500 RPM and a steel bar weighted in contact with the aluminum rod, recording the time before the lubricant failed and the parts chattered, indicating galling. He was amazed that the Rem Oil outperformed all other products. Some of the most expensive products performed very badly. The only thing close to Rem Oil was good old Gunslick Graphite Grease, which I use on semi-auto pistol slide rails.Don't fall for bogus marketing and end up with a bunch of overpriced and underperforming gun care products. Rem Oil is probably the best product to lubricate and protect metal gun parts, and it also happens to be one of the least expensive.I love the small container that's easy to take to the range in my traveling gun maintenance kit. A little Rem Oil goes a long way, so the small bottle is a good size for most shooters. The non-spill bottle with the precision dispenser allow Rem Oil to be placed where you want it and nowhere else.

I recently tried rem oil. I liked the smell, but that was it. As far as protection, it is terrible. A few weeks ago I coated my shotgun with it, yesterday I pulled it out for goose hunting, and there was major rust on it a good portion being pitted. It usually takes a week for rust to pit a barrel (actually eat the metal, not just form on the surface). This indicates rem oil has little to no protection. All I did in the past three weeks with the gun is store it. It was put away clean with plenty of oil on it. It is also true on other guns, but I caught those early enough to clean off the surface rust. I will never use rem oil again. You are better off keeping the gun dry, than spending your money on this.

Amazing, after 40 years of trying every lubricant I could find, Rem Oil bit me on the nose. I coat the part to be lubed with Rem Oil and then wipe off everything a clean cloth will remove. That's it; the part will be dry and have a slick surface that won't collect crud.An excellent product in all respects.

I swithced from WD-40 to Rem Oil back in the 80's - when WD-40 was about as good as anything available. Rem Oil has worked great to protect my firearms from snowy hunts in Colorado to rain soaked Texas hunts, and while stored in my safe. It works, its inexpensive, and the small bottles are easy to keep handy.I use it to lube clutch and throttle cables on my Harley too, oil fishing reels and other needs.In all cases it works great and protects from moisture and rust.I still use good old WD-40 for somethings, but not on my firearms.

This oil really works well for preventing rust and on-sight lubricating. The small bottles are really great for my range bag and my hunting pack. I use some to wipe down my guns after using them each week at the range until I can them home to clean properly. One bottle last's me up to one month. Good oil.

I use it not only on the metal parts, but also the wood parts. I wish they had it in a pump bottle, but I bought a pump spray and filled it with Rem-oil, works better than the aerosol can (not as much gets wasted as you control the spray). GREAT STUFF !

This is a wonderful product. I am a drummer and use it on all of my hardware, especially my bass drum foot pedals. It stops squeaks and keeps them moving fast and effortlessly. I also use it on all of my guns. It does not gunk up and does not attract dirt. Wonderful product!!!!! I practically use it on everything in my house that has moving parts!!!

This is a great lube and carbon build-up inhibitor. Contrary to other reviews, I have not experienced rapid evaporation. I use this product to lube the frame rails on my SIG then put it in a nylon Bianchi holster, under my bed, 2 feet away from the blowing air-conditioning vent, and the rails are still shiny wet... after 2 MONTHS!
