The Redding Competition Seater Die has solved the concentricity problems inherent in other seating dies of this type. Tighter manufacturing tolerances have been made possible due to the details of the patented seating stem system. The bullet guide to seating stem fit is so precise that the seating stem can actually be demonstrated to "float" on a column of air. The seating stem is precision ground to exactly match bullet diameter. Alignment and accuracy are enhanced by the cartridge case and bullet being completely supported and aligned in a close fitting, precision ground sleeve before bullet seating begins. The micrometer is calibrated in 0.001" increments for precise seating depth and is infinitely adjustable (without clicks). Also has a "zero set" feature that allows you to zero the micrometer to your rifle or favorite seating depth. Shellholder sold separately. Made in the USA.

Value for the money

Seating die is just as advertised. I was using some cheaper sets to begin with and noticed a lot of difference between bullet seating depth. I decided to spend a little extra and have not been upset since. Easy to set up and you can make very minor changes without hassle. Groups went from .75 to around a .2 average.

I had high expectations ...

I had high expectations for this die but was a little disappointed. The positives include remarkable fit and finish (high quality machining.) I did produce some very accurate ammo with this die in combination with the redding competition neck-sizing die. Nevertheless, the die kind of self-destructed on me. There is a little "e-clip" inside that retains the floating seating stem. For whatever reason this clip kept getting hung up on the spring inside the die and would bind and/or snap off all-together. Since I couldn't easily find a replacement clip I was forced to shelve the whole die and decided to replace it with a Forster Die. I know these Redding Dies have a great reputation and perhaps mine was an isolated incident but it kind of left a bad taste in my mouth.

Worth every penny. Once ...

Worth every penny. Once you use this die you will never want to use a standard seater die again. This die makes load development simple. Seating depth to ogive is extremely consistent and the micrometer adjustments are very accurate. Highly recommended.

I measured the runnout ...

I measured the runnout after using this marvelous product using a Sinclair Gauge and found after 45 loads a remarkable consistency, with an absolute minimum deviation for all bullets. I cannot tell you how pleased I am with both the .308 and .223 Competition Dies - both neck sizing and seating dies. I highly recommend the Redding Competition dies for any competitor.

The die is great. I have absolutely no problem with that. I have dies from 4 different companies and none compare to the Redding equipment. My gripe is with the "Technical Information" and it is a very small thing but very big when it affects you personally. I needed verification of the thread size of the die and it is not anywhere in the tech info. Small thing but it aggravated me greatly. I thought that I knew but wanted to see it in writing. I said it was a small thing.

Vary good product! I highly recommend this die for accurate loadings. I was able to get the bullets seated right where I needed them to be. My vary first reloads with this out of my stock Remington 700p shot .3 to .5moa.worth every penny for this die if you want vary accurate seating.

Very well-made item. Works just as advertised. Changing the micrometer .001" moves the bullet seating depth .001". No slop whatsoever. The 'zero-set' capability (i.e. setting your preferred seating depth to indicate 0.0) make sit easy to change the seating depth while working up a load and be able to return to the zero point without issue.The only nit I have and Redding is not alone in this, is that the setscrew on the lock-ring is force-jamed into the threads on the die body. Why? This is just plain bad engineering. I replace all my lock-rings with those from Hornady (or old RCBS ones) as these lock rings are split and the setscrew simply tightens the lock ring together.

Sliding chamber a bit ...

Sliding chamber a bit oversized internally. Scratched bullets when seating in new cases which is understandable given the brass is too short so sliding chamber moves due to contact with shellholder. No knock there, happened with the Forster seater too. But Redding won't make a custom sliding chamber from a finish reamer. The cost of the Forster (non-Ultra) plus that to make a custom chamber was less than the cost of this die. So this one'll get sold off. Nothing negative on its performance but the custom Forster is better for the money.
