This is the only thing I use for my custom stocks. I once read Beretta uses this stuff on their shotguns. Maybe someone can confirm. I even used it to refinish my daughter's piano.

I began using this product to bring a high lustre finish to my wood carvings and sculptures when my gunsmith suggested it as an alternative to tung oil. After the first use I was sold. Birchwood Casey finishes are easy to use and results are amazing!

Since 1971 when my father first bought me my 270 Weatherby vanguard with a fancy english walnut stock which was one of the greatest looking pieces of wood I had ever seen in all of the guns we own . Well the finish really needed to be redone but how? I have done all of my reloading for all of the rifles and shotguns and handgun almost all of my life but never refinished a gunstock. Getting on the internet and going to MidwayUSA Larry gave an in depth illustration on step by step of what and when and how to complete this task . Well he really made this very easy. It takes a little time and work but boy was it worth it. When it was time to put the finishing touches on I went to the recommended tru-oil. After putting the first coat on and smoothing it out after it dried completely with the #0000 steel wool and completing 15 coats its more handsome than when we first bought the gun. The tru-oil and the tru-oil wax has made a beautiful master piece for me. Thanks MidwayUSA for all the help. You are the best.

Birchwood Casey Tru Oil rocks! I used it after two coats of Birchwood Casey Filler and Sealer. After a couple of coats of the Tru Oil I hit it with 0000 steel wool. Then I put on a light film of the Tru Oil and let it dry. I do this before work and after work. I plan to put on about 15 coats. The walnut looks beautiful and there is a nice hard coat built up. Another rater took down the gloss with the steel wool, but I might just keep the gloss on.

A local shop stripped the ...

A local shop stripped the old finish from a Rem 700 stock and refinished with Tru Oil. They didn't quite fill all the pores so I got my own supply and added a couple more coats, using 00 steel wool between coats. On the final coat, I broke the gloss with 0000 steel wool. Result is beautiful. This finish draws out the color and figure in what had seemed to be a very plain piece of wood. It's very striking now. The finish is hard, and with the gloss broken, it just feels right. I wouldn't use anything else and I'm tempted to refinish other stocks with this having seen how well it comes out. I have also used it as a touch up on a Browning Citori that has an oil finish. As long as you break the gloss after it hardens, it looks fantastic.One pointer I picked up on a website: Tru-oil flows and handles like an oil, but hardens like a plastic. Each time you let the bottle sit, the air in the bottle causes it to form a skin, and eventually, upon repeated use and sitting, the hardener can be somewhat used up, resulting in a finish that stays a little soft. So it's probably worth the price to get either the small bottles, or the aerosol version, unless you do a lot of stocks and go through the oil quickly.

Used Tru-Oil for the first time today and it is excellent. Rubbed it into the wood of my favorite Browning O/U shotgun, let it dry for 4 hours, and buffed it with some 0000 steel wool. Made a nice satin finish and looks like it just came from the factory. The wood really didn't need refinishing. I just put it on to help seal it and was pleasantly surprised at the results. Will probably go back and add another coat or two. I highly recommend this product. Good shooting!

In the past I used other products that cost a lot more, I mean 4x or even 5x more than Tru Oil, but results didn't come close to the results I achieve with this product. I got rid of all other finishing, sealing products and now use exclusively Birchwood Casey products for refinishing my stocks. I wish all inexpensive products performed like this one. ITS a WINNER! No need to spend even if you're a stock maker.

I've refinished many stocks over the years and always used Tung Oil in the past. I recently ran out and ordered Tru-Oil to try. It was much easier to use and I believe the results were even better. A great product!
