Drop in installation in ...

Drop in installation in an 870 in 5 minutes with very little effort and minimal tools. Make sure your weapon is unloaded of course. Remove the two pins holding in the trigger group, remove trigger group, remove the retaining pin for the safety spring and ball. It is not necessary to remove the spring or ball from the housing. Push the old right hand safety out, put this one in, making sure the trigger cut out lines up with the trigger. Reinstall everything in reverse order. Test for proper operation before you reinstall! Has the added benefit of oversize safety button on the left side. I picked up 3 for all my 870's.

This item is unsafe. I installed it on my 870 and when it was on 'safe' it still allowed my gun to fire. I have a Wingmaster. The design is poor. If you look at the back of the trigger there are two hinges. The factory safety plug comes with a design that allows both of the hinges to be engaged on the safety pin. The design of this safety has only one side of the trigger engaged. When I researched others who make replacement safety pins, they have the same design as the factory model. I hope whoever has purchased this will double check and recheck to make sure their pins work in all situations. I am an extremely safety conscious person when it comes to my firearms and this product on my 870 is dangerous. Maybe the design works better on other models, but not the ones with the trigger design of my shotgun.

Hey Southpaws! After extensive research on the internet, I read some reviews that state this doesn't work and some reviews that states that it does. WELL, I just installed this left hand safety conversion on my NEW REM> 11-87. It works! It was almost as easy as pulling on a pair of socks!

Easy to install, works perfectly. I found that positioning the safety on the ball, inverting and then inserting the spring and with a small screwdriver, depress the spring and inserting the pin works for me

Installed it without too much difficulty per the instructions in the first review and it works good. The only hitch was when I removed the pin holding the spring and ball bearing in, the spring fell out. If you want it to stay in, keep the trigger assembly upright. When I removed the old safety, the ball bearing fell out too. I don't see how they would not fall out once the old safety is removed as there is nothing to hold them in, unless you pushed the old safety out by pushing in the new safety. After inserting the new safety, it was a minor challenge to get the pin back in over the spring. I had to use a punch to hold the spring down while I got the pin inserted. Otherwise, not a big deal and it works fine. I'm glad I didn't do the $84+ option of getting a whole new left-hand safety/right-hand eject trigger assembly. And it would be better if it was metal instead of plastic, but for what it is doing I'm not worried. It's not like it's under a lot of stress. That and because it didn't come with instructions is the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars.

Bought 2 of these for 870's. Dropped right in. Feels great only problem I see is that they are plastic. I wouldn't mind paying a little extra for a metal version.

I installed this safety on a late '70's Model 870 3" Wingmaster and it was an effortless drop-in fit. No modifications or any fitting was required.

This worked great and was easy to install on my son's 870 Express. Only took 5 minutes or so to install. Easier than finding a southpaw gun or replacing the whole trigger assembly. The only trick is to make sure you line up the notch with the trigger block, and then it's a simple process after that.
