The Shooting Chrony F1 Chronograph measures the speed of bullets and other projectiles from 30 to 7000 fps. It can be mounted on a tripod or placed on a table. The Shooting Chrony F1 Chronograph features a large display that shows numbered shot velocities. Includes a jack for use with an optional Chrony Ballistic Printer (sold separately).

Features:

Made of 20 gauge steel.
Has a large LCD-readout, 1/2" high.
Has an adjustable size, triangular shooting area from 8" to 14-1/2".
The sides of the triangular shooting areas are made of wire-rods; the top of the triangle is formed by a 2" wide x 1/8" thick strip of tough, Hi-density polyethylene plastic.
Gives numbered shot velocities.
Velocity stays on display until you shoot again.

Notes:

Not for use with Neon or other flourescent lighting, as they flicker at twice the AC frequency and cause false readings.
For indoor use, a light-diffuser and an incandescent light source must be located above each photo-sensor. Use an Indoor Shooting Light Fixture, product #432880.

This chrony is a pretty good deal. After messing with it and reading the manual I found that this chrony (F1 standard) has the ability to display the low, high, range, standard deviation, and average as well as shot #. However, these can only be accessed with a "remote control or chrony printer", $13 and $90 respectively. The remote is just a button that is conneted to the unit by a wire. If you have a spare set of walkman headphones DO NOT BUY THE REMOTE. I was able to simply use a heaphone wire and expose the copper wires and touch them together to access the features. That is all a button can do..... close or open a circuit. Using this wire I can scroll through each feature easily and quickly. Saved $13 + shipping!!!!!!

I bought this years ago for paintball use and for that it worked pretty good. A few years ago I started reloading and drug this out when a friend asked if he could borrow it. He was working on loads for his suppressed pistols in his basement. He said it worked great (in his basement). I have had nothing, but bad luck with it over the last year trying to chrono my reloads. Short of building an elaborate box to house the thing in and a separate light source for each sensor with a diffuser to prevent light spill over to the other sensor this thing is useless. The only time I have ever got this thing to work was on an over cast day between 11 and 1:30. Being that I shoot in the morning or late evening this thing is worthless to me. If you can schedule your shooting around this thing it may work for you, but my equipment has to work around my schedule and this will not do that.

I use this chrony for air rifles, handguns and high powered rifles and it seems to work pretty good. It can be some what tricky to get it to read correctly if the lighting is not optimal but that is just the way chronys are. I would definitly recommend this chrony to a friend.

As inexpensive as these are, everybody should have one--easy to use, and gives you real data about the performance of your round, and your firearm--not somebody's test gun fired under ideal conditions. Only minor gripe--the interlocking shades seem a tad brittle; have a crack in one when I got it too close to my hunting rifle. But I've used these on everything from 9mm Parabellum to 50 BMG and I couldn't be more pleased with the product and the price.

Do you know how fast its going?

I use a Hawke BRC scope and this chronograph helps my computer program pinpoint where my projectile impacts. Most groups are under a quarter at 100, and 200 yds. If the wind is right I can (or my scope can) get them under a dime. Not just me, but my grandson and grandaughter utilizing the same firearm. If you are reloading like us this information is critical to whether you eat meat or target paper.

I have had nothing but error messages, and erroneous readings, since I bought this model. Sent it back to factory for inspection, they said it was fine. I'll go with another brand next time.

This has been the most frustrating piece of equipment I have ever owned. I am one of the most meticulous reloaders among my friends and even with factory ammo, I can`t get repeatable velocities out of this piece of junk compared to my friends other brands of chrono`s.

I like this product it does what it says for a good price. It has some room for improvement though. I gave it 5 stars because I shot it once and it still functioned until I hit it a second time a few years later. And that is one of the problems with it, it's TOO easy to shoot, all the important parts are right up there just below your line of sight and the bullet path which diverge from each other. I've put a piece of paper on the top of mine which blocks my view of the target and forces me to shoot a little higher above the chrony. A detachable plastic shield might serve the same function and save a few units from destruction. Overall a good product but take extra care or you'll need to buy another one too soon.

Works fine. Simple - just shoot over it and jot down the velocity from off the display. I have used this chrono quite a bit now, and am very happy with it. Have used it for .270 win, 30-30, & several handgun calibers - no problems.
