Butler Creek's marketing ...

Butler Creek's marketing literature says this device only works with their magazines. Rubbish! I have a Ram-Line 50-rounder and a couple of Ruger factory magazines, and this thing loads them perfectly well. This is one of the best accessories you can buy for plinking with your 10/22. It's worth it just for the perk of being able to load mag after mag without getting lead and wax all over one's fingers. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is that there's a bit of a "trick" to using it, but it should only take the tiniest bit of experimentation to get the rhythm down.

Purchased this loader ...

Purchased this loader along with two Butler Creek Steel Lips magazines. No problem learning how to use it, but right off the bat, I discovered that it took considerable force to get the cartridges into the magazine. This put a dent in the side of the cartridge case. At times it completely jammed. When this happened, I discovered that the housing was separating; it didn't appear to be fastened together in any way. A dab of Gorilla Glue is now holding the housing together, and it seems to work a lot better. I have used it to load Ram-Line and Eagle magazines with very little problems, but it will not load the original Ruger ten round magazines and it still takes some force to load the Butler Creek ones. All in all, I feel that the loader is cheaply made, not very durable, and not worth the money I paid for it.

This unit works well saves your thumbs and reloads extra cap mags fast. Only issue is will dent some thin walled shells (cheap) so they don't load right. Had no problem with Wolf, Remington, Winchester but did with some cheaper import brands.

Reliable loader

I load all my 10-22 mags with this loader. Works best with regular hotlips. There is a learning curve if used on steel lips and BX 25 mags, but it is still very useable. I have used this loader with 10 rnd Ruger rotary mags and find it loads them but with some difficulty. I have loaded more than 10,000 rnds with this loader and it still works! Overall a good product.

A disappointment

Mine worked with Butler Creek mags but not well. I have arthritis in my hands and the loader is VERY hard for me to turn. It eventually broke. I would not recommend this loader to anyone. I was very disappointed in the apparent low quality product. I should have returned it when I first got it, but I wanted to give it a chance. I wasted my money. I will be ordering a different brand today.

Loaded over 500 rounds in a Ruger BX-25 Mag. Some minor issues but once I got the hang of it, it was great. Well worth the money!!

I bought this loader because the one for $8.99 was so terrible.This thing is just great! It owrked perfectly right out of the package. I loaded four Ruger 25 rd Factory Mags and two Ruger 10 rd mags in just under 5 minutes. Buy it, you won't be sorry. I think I'll get another as a backup.

What a piece of junk! Two of the rounds turned side ways in the loader and it took 5 minutes to get them out. Don't waste you money!

This is a great loader, when you get it working. The feed trough gets bound up a bit sometimes, so I took a bit of sandpaper to the trough to smooth it up and take the burrs off. Also, clean the loader every now and then as the lube from your ammo will come off in the loader and start binding things up. This happens more with cheap bulk ammo. It also helps if you keep the magazine level so the feed trough isn't at too extreme an angle.
