50 Round 22 long rifle drum magazine fits Ruger 10/22. The drum features a modular design with an interchangable feed tower, allowing it to be configured to function in most AR-15 rimfire conversions, the S&W M&P15-22, or the Ruger 10/22 by installing the appropriate feed tower (10/22 Feed Tower Included, Others Sold Separately). Polycarbonate PC construction withstands heat and wear for durability and long service life.

NOTE: This Drum Magazine has the Ruger 10/22 Feed Tower installed, and does NOT come with either the AR-15 Rimfire Conversion or S&W M&P15-22 Feed Towers (sold separately).

This was recommended to me when I purchased my Promag Nomad stock. However, I have found out that it will not fit this stock with either altering the magwell in the stock (unacceptable), or machining your own taller tower, which is a route I might take. Anyway, I highly recommend this drum magazine for your "regular" 10/22. In testing, I found this drum and rifle combo doesn't care for the low power rounds, such as the federal bulk pack. These rounds work fine in the stock 10 round magazine, but I'm guessing that the pressure of the spring tension in the drum mag is a little too much for the bolt when combined with the low power. These lower power rounds usually had a failure to eject but still picked up the next round. Subsequent testing proved that the more powerful rounds did better, and I found that of the rounds I tried, the Blazer rounds worked best. They were a strong round, ejected a good distance (where the federals barely cleared my trigger hand when they ejected), and I only had one jam with the 80-90 rounds I tried. I'm glad that the better round is available in bulk, cause you don't want to be shooting up your $3+ a box ammo in this magazine. Loading the magazine is very, very, easy, even when the spring tension is high from a nearly full magazine. The instructions are clear about taking it apart >if< you should need maintainance, but the pictures are too small to be useful. It's a great, fun magazine!

This product does not ...

This product does not work reliably. I get at least 12 jams per 50 round load. I've tried 3 different types of ammo; hollow-point (Winchester), non-hollow-point (Federal), and ammo specifically for large magazines (CCI). There's no novelty in having 50 rounds loaded if you have to remove jammed (bent) bullets every little while. This product simply isn't worth it. What I would like to know from those who claim that this product works reliably is, WHAT specific ammo did they use? The 3 that I tried were of different lengths, and they ALL worked perfectly with the original 10 round magazine, and the Ruger BX-25. If you want to fire 25 rounds as fast as you can pull the trigger, get the Ruger BX-25, and don't waste your money on this Black Dog product. VERY disappointing!

The drums are made pretty good, although it does take some adjusting to make them operate right. I filed the top down a couple thousands where the slide of my 10/22 was touching mag. Fairly easy to see the problem. I would prefer that area to be metal instead of polymer.

The magazine would jam 10/50 rounds consistently. The feed ramp was not correct causing the round to jam in the receiver and then the bolt would smash the round. I have tried 4 different types of ammunition including CCI Mini-Mags. I understand some people get this magazine to work but I was very disappointed. Great Idea, but poor implementation. 2 BX-25 Mags does the same thing with zero jams. Sorry.

I bought butler creek mags, and they were trash. So I bought this drum, thinking that based on the reviews, it would work really well. I was wrong, this drum got worse the more I used it. I tried putting a couple of hundred rounds through it but the more I used it the more the spring kept getting stuck. Overall, this was a terrible magazine and I DO NOT recommend it.

The Black Dog drum was used in two 10/22 rifles and performed poorly in both of them. It would fail to feed due to the drum not pushing up a round. If it did feed, it was often fed into the chamber edge or higher, resulting in a split nose and bent cartridge. Finally it would allow a failure to eject (stovepipe). Sometimes it would shoot 20 times perfectly; this was usually when the drum was full. The stock Ruger rotary magazines worked perfectly.

This product worked great! Until the spring coil type thing moved out of place (note I did not cause the spring to move it happened on its own) I tired to put it back into place but it wont stay, it keeps popping out of place. I was overall satisfied until this happened, it fired without one jam.

This thing is a piece of junk. I bought 2 of them to go with my 10-22 tommy gun conversion. I went with Blackdog because I heard so many bad reviews about ProMag drums. These are no better. Do yourself a favor - don't bother with a drum mag - there are no good ones out there yet. Go with a Tactical Innovations banana instead - they never miss a shot.

Love the ease of loading ...

Love the ease of loading but had the rubber band piece fail after 2 uses. This must be a common problem beacuse I was told there were 2 extra's included in the box that I did not notice before discarding. Should have replacement shortly and will be back to wasting .22's in no time. Overall I will probably end up with another one becuase they are so much better to load than the 25 round mags that kill your thumb after 75-100 rounds.

This is the best aftermarket magazine for the 10/22 I have bought! It is easy to load, and my 13 year old went through 500 rounds with only an occasional mis-feed --- 5 stars! I will be buying another one!
