The Wheeler Engineering FAT Wrench is a hand driven, click/clutch style torque wrench that is very useful for applying the necessary torque to most firearm and firearm accessory fasteners. The FAT Wrench features a thick ergonomic handle, a standard 1/4" drive tip, and can be used to apply torque from 10 to 65 in-lbs at 5 in-lb increments. Common uses include, but are not limited to: installation of scope ring and base screws, action screws and trigger guard screws. With proper care and use, the FAT Wrench will provide a lifetime of reliable service. Includes 9 bits, a square drive adapter and plastic hard case.

I received the wrench today and found what others are saying is true, the end falls right off. I miked the drive end and it is cut about .003 too small and will not hold adapter. I called Wheeler and the girl says, 'we know and the engineers know that their is a problem but sorry about your luck. Send it back and buy something else'. Well, that kind of customer service is totally unsatisfactory, since I have never bought anything from Midway, that was this bad to have to return. It is really too bad since the American Rifleman reviewed this tool in the last issue. Midway has good products and its really too bad that Wheeler will not stand behind their product! I just sent it back, well I kind of feel bad for Midway but what choice does a person have?

Slightly Disappointed

I bought this wrench to be able to set scopes on two rifles. In the past I have ruined mounting kits by over tightening and thought this would take care of the problem. Well, it did not come with the hex wench size I needed for either scope mount so I still have the same problem. Am hoping to find a set of tips to use with the wrench so I don't have to purchase another wrench just to get the full set of tips.

The device is well made, easy to use and to adjust to various settings. It has a good storage case to hold the different bits; screw, torx, phillips, etc. It comes with documentation that this unit was tested at the manufacture and is accurate.

I mounted a scope on my Renington 7mm mag and it kept loosening up until using the Wheeler Torque wrench Screwdriver.Good quality bits and work ability...Hard to adjust when new , so I adjusted to its lightest and worked up to the torque I neeeded

Great product. You don't have to worry about over tighting small screws that strip out because with the FatWrench set the inch
pound for the desired torque and you are ready to go. Anyone who works on firearms should have this product in there tool box.Great for scope mounts and scope rings.

Very useful in torquing various screws/bolts on firearms. Very good for scope mounting.
Glad I got it, I was way over tightening some bolts.
Wish it had more sized tips, but will accept other brands.

I use this tool whenever I have scope mounting work to do. I will in the future use it more for other gunsmithing work also. It seems to give good consistant torque. The scale could be a little easier to read. But it is usable as is. It comes with a good assortment of bits and a nice case to keep them orginized.

Required for Air Guns

While I use on all my rifles, the air guns are the most sensitive to proper torque. I have several high end air rifles that benefit greatly in accuracy by proper and correct screw and bolt torque. No more guessing. Great quality product at reasonable price.

I don't know what others ...

I don't know what others who gave this product bad reviews were expecting. But this tool works just as it should for me. One of the first things I did was try all the bits in the tool head to see if they fell out as other reviews said. Maybe they fixed it or maybe I got a good one but they all held fine. Next I looked at the indicator line. I read that it was too wide to give a good reading. It appears to me that the edge is where the reading comes from. When lowered as far as possible, the top edge of the indicator lined up with the lowest reading. I used it to set and check several scope rings with good results. So far so good.

This is a quality torque wrench for rifle scope mounts. Although this is no where near a quality of a gunsmith tool, this is a must have for a budget-minded average joe. Since the gauge window increment is 5 in-lb, the accuracy should be between +/-2~3 in-lb.
