This AR-Stoner AR-15 Barrel is perfect for use in competition where both accuracy and reliable functioning are very important factors to a successful match. The barrel uses the popular and versatile 223 Wylde chamber, which has a longer throat than the SAAMI spec for 223 Remington to allow for the safe usage of 5.56x45mm NATO ammunition and enhanced reliability. However, accuracy potential is also greater than a 5.56 NATO chamber due to slightly tighter tolerances, making the 223 Wylde an ideal compromise that retains the benefits of both of the other two chamber options.

This 18" Medium Contour Barrel is manufactured from 416R Stainless Steel and uses 5R Rifling with a 1 in 8" Twist. It is fluted along its length for greater stiffness, faster cooling and reduced weight. Additional features include a Mid Length Gas Port, M4 Feed Ramps and 1/2"-28 threaded muzzle. Barrel extension and locator pin are both included and installed at the factory.

First off let me say the shipping was really quick, as I have come to expect from Midway. This is for a 3-gun build, and must be accurate, I am withholding judgement on that as I haven't finished the build yet. I notice two things that speak highly of Midway's customer service, and especially their attention to these reviews. Other reviewers had noted that their flutes don't line up with the gas block, there is no dimple to hold a gas block, and that the shipping carton was damaged. I see that all 3 of these issues have been fixed. The flutes line up with the gas hole and each other. There now is a dimple 180 below the gas hole. The packaging on my barrel was very well done and the barrel appears perfect. One small detail that I hesitate to even mention was the sharpness of the flutes. This had been mentioned by others and they are still very sharp. However, I wrapped a dowel with emory paper and in about 10 minutes broke the sharp edges. If this barrel shoots as good as looks it is great value for money.

Got this barrel in was excitied about it after reading the reviews at 4.5 stars thought it was a sure thing.Got it installed on the upper when a round is put in the chamber the bolt closes too far and there is no headspace between the bolt and barrel as anybody knows this is not good it seems to me that the round is being shoved to far in the barrel. This will cause to much pressure in the chamber and cause damage to the barrel or me. Haven't called to see if I can return it. Cause it states no returns if installed or fired. Hopefully Midway will help me resolve this problem with little or no issues. I will update the review when the issue is resolved

I did My homework when building a 3 gun rifle. This item is hard to beat at any price, takes 77gr. out to long ranges and eats the cheap ammo at cq ranges. Free floated with a good brake and it shoots as good as any out there. All in all 5 stars all the way.

I reserved my review until I had tested the rifle, glad I did! As with prevoius reviews, the flutes do not line up. Front and rear matched on my bbl but, did not match the gas port. the edges are a little sharp on the flutes, blasting and dura-coating fixed that. The gas port is in the grooves not on a land, I assume this is why the flutes are off-centered. The best group was with 77 SMKs it was holding .388 MOA, the worst was the 52 SMK's @ .570 MOA. I did experience some vertical stinging after about 50 rds, This could've been due to the POS barska I mounted for testing or the 93 deg weather. All in all, excellent, light barrel at a reasonable price. For me, if a bbl shoots this well the flutes can be cut any way they so choose!

Built on a LAR Grizzly ...

Built on a LAR Grizzly OP-4 upper, side charge, and very nice tight fit. Without splitting hairs it shoots a pie plate at 300 yards without a hitch and that's using cheaper bargain ammo. Turns some heads with the flutes and balances nice. All in all I'll build more uppers using this combo. Got more than my money's worth without a doubt.

These seem to be excellent barrels for the money. Cosmetically: The flutes are equally space around, but the rear segments and the front segments do not line up with each other, or with the gas port or barrel extension pin. Accuracy: I shot four TEN shot groups with one barrel so far at 50 yards to test fire and sight in. Group 1: 77gr Black Hills was 2.110moa/0.726(average to center); Group 2: 68gr HPBT over 25gr Varget was 2.139moa/0.582atc; Group 3: 52gr Black Hills was 2.900moa/0.84atc; Group 4: 55gr monarch green box was 3.956moa/1.259atc. These numbers are actually 15 to 20% better/smaller compared to my 1/8 18" Sabre Defense fluted SPR barreled AR. I rated this barrel as 4 stars, only due to the cosmetics of the non-aligned flutes.

For the price, this is a very nice barrel. An 18 inch barrel seems to be a perfect match for weight and velocity of AR-15 loads. The deep flutes shave off a lot of weight. Shot .5 MOA with Berger 73 match and .25 MOA with 55 gr Dog Town SP. My Chrono showed 25-30 fps average velocity slower than my 20 inch match barrel with Varget powder. I was so impressed, I bought another.

It looks like I'll be one of the first to review this barrel, so here goes. The outside machine work is very good, the rifling looks very smooth and well done. No burr at the gas port. The section of the barrel for the gas block measured .7498 (perfect). You will need a clamp on gas block because there is no flat or dimples for a set screw type gas block. The only issue I see is that the locating pin and the gas port are not lined up with a flute or a rib, it won't effect the function but it sure looks like poor attention to detail during the finishing process. Also this is more to the shipping department, you need to add padding around the barrel for shipping, when I first saw my box and how beat-up it was, I was worried that it might be damaged. It looks O.K. this time. I will re-review this barrel after shooting it. I'm going to have the barrel blasted to reduce the shine and soften the edges of the flutes (kind of sharp). 5 stars if the gas port and the flutes lined up.
