Farm Specialist
MidwayUSA, a leading internet and catalog retailer of shooting and hunting products, has an exciting Farm Specialist position available. This position assists the General Manager of Midway Farms with various duties including timber harvest and management, Sporting Clays activities and tournaments, and management and maintenance of all buildings, fences, equipment and property.
Sample of specific duties:
- Assist with execution of annual wildlife plan (harvest plan and food plots)
- Assist with all aspects of Hunt Preserve (bird management, hunt guiding, post-hunt cleanup
- Assist with management and maintenance of all buildings, fences, equipment and property
- Assist with Sporting Clays activities and tournaments
- Assist with managing the farming connections
- Assist with timber harvest and management
- Assist with the strategic planning process for the properties
- Assist General Manager in all duties
The ideal candidate:
- Wildlife or Ag Degree (4 year degree)
- Wildlife management knowledge
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Grew up on a farm and knows how to run equipment
- Hunter and shooter with good firearm safety skills
- Good customer service skills and experience working with people
- General farm labor skills
- Tractor operation, as well as tillage and planting implements
- Mechanically inclined
- Be able to run a chainsaw safely and competently
- People skills to execute guided hunts and interact with Farm guests
- Skilled at basic construction techniques
- Maintain a neat and organized workshop
- Physically able to lift up to 60 pounds
- Must be physically capable of and willing to work in both hot (over 100 degrees F) and cold (below 15 degrees F) conditions
