About the National Endowment for the Protection of the Second Amendment The NRA created this endowment in 1991 to help ensure the future of the Second Amendment. The contributions are never spent, but allowed to grow forever. Each year 5% of the balance, or the earnings – whichever is less, are used on legal efforts to protect the Second Amendment. Today the balance in the endowment is $8,328,114. Your NRA Round-Up contributions through MidwayUSA have gone into this endowment since January 2, 1992.
