Larry and Brenda Potterfield of MidwayUSA recently donated $400,000 to the Mule Deer Foundation (MDF) to endow the new MidwayUSA Youth Wildlife Conservation Experience (MYWCE) program.
MYWCE is a program that will fund freshman and sophomore high school students to attend the Western Hunting and Conservation Expo to educate them on wildlife conservation efforts and the outdoors. Together, the Mule Deer Foundation and Sportsmen for Fish and Wildlife partner to put on this annual show held in Salt Lake City, UT. The generous donation from the Potterfields will go into an endowment, and the interest generated by the gift will fund the MYWCE program. Endowing these funds and only spending the interest will allow the program to continue indefinitely.
"This generous donation from Larry and Brenda Potterfield provides MDF great opportunity for getting more youth involved in conservation and the shooting sports", said Miles Moretti, MDF President and CEO.
Larry Potterfield, Founder and CEO of MidwayUSA, remarked, "Brenda and I believe in supporting youth programs that teach our next generation about wildlife and conservation. These kids are the future of shooting and conservation and we are excited about partnering with MDF through the MYWCE program to change the future."
