Definition for "star crimp" : A common method of folding the open end of a shotgun shell that has been filled with the necessary components as the final stage of shotshell reloading. A starter die and final crimp die are used to form a series of inward pointing, equal sized triangles from the case mouth which are then folded down and sealed against the shot column. Also called the 'pie crimp', 'folded crimp', and 'rose crimp'. |
