The Flextone Funky Chicken is the most unique design in turkey decoy history. A proven and tested theory where bigger isn't always better. The Funky Chicken's body is an abnormal shape that triggers aggressive behaviors within gobblers in the spring mating season. Basically, he's the skinny wimpy kid that every other turkey knows they can beat up.
On your next hunt get Funky! Show them something new, something less threatening, something wimpy and something that says, "come beat me up". Do the Funky Chicken!
The Funky Chicken's wimpy stature poses no danger to incoming passive gobblers and definitely doesn't intimidate any dominant gobbler from coming in to beat him up.
Stake Insertion: To make the Funky Chicken field ready, you must first attach the top stake to the body of the decoy. Take washer and thread onto the top stake. Once completely threaded, insert stake and washer through the bottom hole of the decoy. Take wing-nut and thread onto stake, until a tight fit is completed, thus locking the stake to the decoy. When ready to set-up afield, simply attach bottom to top stake to an already attached to decoy. Use foot-step ("V" shaped piece on bottom stake) to place your foot onto, aid in pushing stake into ground.
Beard Insertion: The Funky chicken comes with a 3" beard to be inserted into the hole in breast. For mature gobbler, leave beard dangling. For a jake, push beard into body until beard is sticking straight out. However, in field test, the Funky Chicken works great without the beard inserted in decoy. Beards are a way of showing age and dominance. Using the Funky Chicken without a beard makes it appear even less a threat.
Use: Based on numerous extensive hunts afield, the Funky Chicken works best when used with one or multiple hen decoys. To put it simple, gobblers fight over the right to mate hens. Once a gobbler sees the Funky Chicken around hens and realizes he can "whip up on him", the game is on. Therefore place the Funky Chicken EXACTLY where you want to shoot, as it's EXACTLY where he will end up... Face to Face in front of the Funky Chicken.
