The Accuracy Standard for 308 Win

Used a Remington 308 Win 700 Varmint model to shoot 0.34 MOA at 100yds- 5 shot groups. Hornady AMAX 168gr Lapua Brass Winchester Primers... Tested it against H4895 and Varget fills the case better and is more accurate in my rifle. Varget's velocity spread was less extreme and more constant / level as well when I chrono'd each shot to compare. I used a fine digital scale and trickler to precisely measure for consistant results and Varget had a minimum spread in fps vs H4895 had a larger fps spread. The 5 shot groups with Varget were more precise and constant. 1 inch groups with H4895 were the norm in load development. 0.25 to 0.5 MOA were the norm for Varget's load development. I was so impressed I went out and bought another 1 pound jar of Varget for the "magic" recipe my 308 Win rifle likes.

This is the powder I use for my 22-250. I have a Remington 700, and this combo is very accurate in my rifle. I use nothing else.

Have loaded varget in ...

Have loaded varget in several different bullet weights for my Remington Model 788, 22-250, that's right a 35+yr old rifle. Each of the bullets from 55 gr. to 40 gr. performed well. The best group was shot with 37.5grs. behind a 40gr Hornady Vmax , with c.c.i. 200 lg rifle primer, that was 5/8in. at 200yds from a bench. That's probably the best I can do considering the trigger pull on the rifle is pritty stiff. But will keep trying.

I've used this powder for ...

I've used this powder for everything from 5.56 match loads for an AR (with highly precise <.25 minute results) up to .375 H&H hunting loads with reliably <.75 minute groups. Less flash, less action fouling in gas guns, and exceptional accuracy across the board. Good enough to get me to quit tinkering with other powders.

This is the perfect ...

This is the perfect powder for .223 Remington. Every different load I do seems to shoot well no matter what. I found the best load was right around the 3000 fps mark and still shoots consistent 1/2 MOA groups. This powder doesn't care about pressure or temperature and always performs with 5 stars. Just buy it already!

We loaded up Sierra ...

We loaded up Sierra MatchKings 168s with New Brass, Match Primers and 45.5 Grains of Varget to shoot out of a Savage Model 10 and a Remington 700 both .308 with 20". It is extremely accurate and we both shot 1/2" groups. The powder is very easy to load do to its tube shape. I would recommend this powder to anyone.

They say Varget is not ...

They say Varget is not the go to powder for a 6.8 spc. They might be right, but I was amazed at how good it actually did. I was out of h335 and couldn't find hardly any load data for 6.8 spc. and Varget So I worked up a load myself. Shooting conditions were horrible 30 plus gusting winds sustained at 8-15.I'll give Varget a 5 star rating for its sheer performance. I was still able to shoot 3/4 inch groups at 100yrds with 110 gr sierra pro hunters and Hornady 110gr match bullets.

H-4350, and Varget are to ...

H-4350, and Varget are to two powders I use for all my guns, other than 44 Mag and other pistols, or shotguns. When it comes to standard long guns, you just dont need anything else. I loaded a medium load with 40 grain Nosler Ballistic Tips in my 22-250, going around 4,050 fps. Out of my completely factory Remington 700 SP Varmint, I managed to get a o.428" center to center group at 200 meters, along with several other half inch groups at the same range. This is a very versatile powder. Its relatively cool burning too, so that should help with barrel burning on hotter loads. Bottom line: this is a very accurate, very universal powder for small to medium, and even some large (30-06) calibers.

I used this powder to ...

I used this powder to really tighten up my groups from my old load (IMR 4320). I'm very pleased with this so far even though I will continue to test it. This powder simply out performed everything else I compared it to. It's very clean and very accurate. You will not be disappointed with Varget.
