Comments about Hodgdon Lil' Gun Smokeless Gun Powder 4 lb:

I bought this to reload 22 Hornet but have found that it is more vestal than I thought. It has given me some excellent groups from my M1 Carbine with 100 grain half jackets. Meters well in both the Lee perfect powder measure and auto disk measure. Burns clean but not spotless, very acceptable. I thought this would be one of those stray 1 pound cans on the bench but it's become an 8 pound staple.

This stuff is hard to ...

This stuff is hard to beat in loading the 357 Magnum. 158 grain Hornadys in an Encore with a 15 inch barrel shoot like a rifle! A gallon milk jug filled with water hit at 100 yards is an awesome sight!

The only powder you need ...

The only powder you need to reload the 22 Hornet rifle. Higher velocities, at lower chamber pressures, + best accuracy. I use Rem. 6 1/2 primers in all my 22 Hornets. Meters very well no need to weigh charges. Try it you will be amazed.

Never used it till I ...

Never used it till I started loading for a 450 Bushmaster. This powder is a super performer in the 450. Expect excellent accuracy with top velocities from this powder. You won't be disappointed.

I only reload for my 454 ...

I only reload for my 454 Puma 20" right now. I have used H110, Lil Gun, Tite Group, and Trail Boss. I use mostly the 250 grain xtp or 300 xtp both of which I really like. Having said that the Lil Gun is the best for accuracy and recoil. Something about the H110 just doesn't work well for me, my groups tend to wonder a bit. Tite Group is my plinker powder that still hits with a wallop! But when I go hiking in the hills I will have 10rds of Lil Gun w/ some xtp at the ready.

In both pistol & carbine [454 Casull]; Lil'Gun performed well but was VERY smoky, not all powder is burnt so there is considerable residue.

I use Lil'Gun for my ...

I use Lil'Gun for my Ruger GP-100. It's not as pressure sensitive as H110/W296 and max loads run at lower pressures (especially with heavier bullets).I've been using a max charge to push a 182gr LFP-GC. Accuracy is great, the cases never stick, and the primers don't look a bit flattened.

Lil' Gun is great in my ...

Lil' Gun is great in my 357 mag Model 92 lever action Puma. I get good groups using Hornady XTP hollow point 180 grain bullets (about 3 inches at 100 yds with peep sight). High velocity with less recoil than stout loads of H-110. Highly recommend for the 357 with bullets 158 grain and heavier.

This is the only powder I have used in my 50 Beowulf. It works great, but generates a LOT of static electricity in the both a Lyman 55 and an RCBS electric powder measure.

I bought this for .454 ...

I bought this for .454 Casull because of the low pressures shown by the Hodgdon 2008 manual for 260 grain bullets at max velocities. I now use it for .44 Magnum and .41 Magnum full power loads also, with good groups resulting. It is very clean burning. I'm happy with it.
