These leather slings are reproductions of the M1907 sling. They feature brass hooks and leather keepers, just like the original M1907. The sling has multiple adjustment holes to allow the sling to be adjusted for the various shooting positions. This sling is great for dressing up your old 1903 Springfield or M1 Garand.

It fits well on an M24/47 ...

It fits well on an M24/47 Yugo Mauser, haven't tried it on an 03 or Garand, but you can't set it up *quite* like the M1907 it mimics, or at least the one I bought can't quite be set up in "parade" style, which keeps my rifles from getting tangled on each other in my safe. The holes don't go all the way up to the frog on the upper half in other words. The leather seems kinda soft, but doesn't appear to be weak-probably not the same kind of leather you'd find in a Turner or similar sling. Hardware looks to be pretty well secured and of good quality-riveted. The keepers will probably work just fine for general purposes, but I somehow doubt they'll hold up for extended shooting where they're under pressure for long periods. The length looks like standard 1907, but if you're over 6' tall, you might run out of adjustment for use in prone position.Overall, it's a decent sling, and I didn't think three stars was a fitting rating, although four is slightly above for an honest critique. If you would like something that offers the utility of a military sling for your rifle (military rifle or not), don't feel like shelling out more $ for a Turner, and don't plan on beating it up much, this will likely suit your purpose. If you want a match sling or one that will take some more abuse, get a Turner.

I agree with Kris Wimme's ...

I agree with Kris Wimme's statement that the finish is very dissapointing. Instead of a rich brown leather look, the sling has a tan fake plastic leather look to it. A USA flag is placed on the package, however it does not say "Made in the USA" anywhere on the product or package.

When I received the sling ...

When I received the sling I was disappointed in the appearance and thickness of the leather. The finish and texture of the leather makes it look synthetic, and the leather is about 1/2 as thick as I was expecting for this style of sling. I haven't used it yet, and I suspect it will work fine. The finish will probably start to look more like natural leather after some use as well.

I was somewhat disappointed with the sling leather - looks like it is plastic coated. The loops are good quality traditional leather. Maybe the plastic look is a coating to protect the leather (?). This sling doesn't look and feel like the Hunter military slings I purchased long ago. But, the quality is good and I think this sling is better than others on the market.

I purchased a 1" sling ...

I purchased a 1" sling for use on a couple of World War II vintage European bolt action service rifles. The length was a little short and I had to add an extension to the front sling swivel. The length should be OK for most hunting rifles. It was long enough for my Remington 700 and Winchester model 75. The quality of the leather was very good. The finish and color was similar to some of the more expensive leather slings Ive seen. The hardware was solid. Both the hooks and ring are of good quality. The stitching is secure. The keepers dont use stitching or staples, but are riveted. The keepers are a little on the loose side. When slung up in a keeper-keeper-hook setup, the upper hook tended to pull out and the sling would loosen on the arm. The more traditional military keeper-hook-keeper configuration work much better with this sling. I treated the sling with beeswax based leather waterproofing which made the sling less likely to loosen when slung up. The hooks arent as thick as on some other slings, but they are solid. The rivets are pretty close to flush with the hook and the leather which makes it easy to pass the hooks through just about any swivel. It didnt take long for the leather to break in nicely, making it very supple. I feel I got a lot of sling for the money. I do like this sling enough that I purchased a second one.
