The Peltor Tactical 6S Electronic Earmuffs electronically limit loud, harmful noises to 82 decibels and amplify soft sounds up to 19 decibels. Stereo microphones allow you to hear directionally which makes them excellent for hunting and range safety. Independent volume controls on each cup.

When I first tried them on I thought surely they were a leftover prop from a James Bond movie, but once I got a chance to try them at the range they worked great. You really do not appreciate being able to hear normal sounds and conversation while wearing shooting muffs until you try a set of these. Each ear is individually adjustable for those of us who have human ears that do not perfectly match each other. Even with the electronic gadgetry and batteries installed, they are still smaller, lighter, and more comfortable than my last pair of conventional muffs. You barely notice you are wearing them.

The price was right, so I ordered a pair. After ten minutes of use, the right muff began to squeal, loudly. I returned them and promptly got a replacement set. After a day of use, the replacement pair began to loudly click and squeal. I returned the second pair.The customer service department emailed me and suggested the Pro-Ears Predator 200. Great muffs. The sound level compression of the Pro-Ears is much easier on the ears than the high level clipping of Peltors.Changing the battery in the Pro-Ears is much easier, but the batteries are not common at your local grocery store. Any large department store should have them though.My only complaint of both muffs is the lack of air space in the muff, making them hot when the weather is warm.Thanks Midway Customer Service Department!

I have two pair of these. Sent one pair back after 6 mos because right side quit. Peltor replaced them. That pair lasted two years so I purchased another pair. First pair quit working altogether. Second pair gets static occasionally. Get the Caldwell muffs. You can buy almost 3 pair for the price of these. I have a pair of Peltor Tac7s that work great but cost twice as much and are too thick for rifle shooting.

These muffs work pretty well! It can be a bit tricky replacing the batteries, but that's nothing that a flathead screwdriver cannot fix. Love these much better than plain ol' ear muffs and I use mine every time I hit the range.

I have two pairs of these and I like them a lot. I shoot pistols and rifles with them all of the time. Talking to people is easy as long as there aren't guns going off. It muffles the noise of the gun well. Anyone having problems with them might have the microphone pointed in the wrong direction. Once you figure out how to pull the ear cup off to replace the batteries it will be easy.

Got my first pair 5-6 ...

Got my first pair 5-6 years back, like them so much got another pair shortly after. I like the amplification and that I could adjust both sides so things sounded better than real life. Down side; I had to add some small cut-out foam pieces inside to help with the reduction part of operation. And the biggie is they both quit after 4 years or less, Each time it was the left side that died first. For a short time I used parts from the two to make one pair but that died in short order. Also turn each side upside down so the thin part is down at the gun. If you are happy with expecting 2-3 years out of them, then they are great.

They were still comfortable at the range after two hours of use in warm weather. The audio quality is just fine. I can clearly hear those speaking around me and yet the loud shotgun booms are blocked out pretty well.

This headset is a very high quality product. It works as advertised, and you really forget you're wearing them because you can talk normally even in a high noise environment. The only dislike I have is that changing batteries is a real hassle. The earpice must be removed from the unit to gain access to the batteries...I think a redesign to add a battery cover would make this product perfect.

plus:-worked for 2 years-great low-profile muffs dont interfere with rifle stocks-muffs are great even when turned off-fold for easy storage-durable enough for standard range usenegative:-died after 2 years-battery replacement is horribleWorked perfectly fine for about 2 years, then got a short in the left side mic and no longer receive amplified audio on that side. Right side sound quality has degraded to the point where I generally don't even turn it on anymore because the quality is so lousy and there is so much interference crackle.Even though the audio no longer works, they're just as good as a standard set of Peltor Shotgunners, which are great low-profile muffs. So the way I see it is I paid for electronic muffs that died after two years, but I still have a nice set of muffs regardless.The cups are really difficult to remove without accidentally puncturing the material. They should have designed these with an external battery compartment. For this reason alone, I will not buy these again. They do sell replacement cups, but come on. Get with the program, Peltor.

Worked well for about a year, then started having problems. The unit would work for a while, then went passive. Finally, after a few months of problems, it doesn't work at all. I gave two stars because it worked well - WHEN it worked.

Found the fit to be uncomfortable. The mechanics inside the shells press against the ear. Would be nice if there was a little bit more space in there. And no, I do not have big or protruding ears!
