Product Information

Rainier offers a large selection of swaged lead core copper plated bullets that are low in cost but substantially high in accuracy. Rainier swages their bullets twice with lead wire in an effort to ensure the tightest uniformity as well as prevention of premature wearing of barrels. While Rainier doesn't publish their own reloading information, they recommended using lead bullet load data when loading their bullets as well as a slight taper crimp. Rainier recommends a maximum velocity of 1,500 fps.

These bullets feature a lead core that is completely covered by copper plating. They are resized after being plated with approximately 0.004" of copper plating. This unique design makes them suitable for most indoor ranges, which often require the use of bullets with no exposed lead. The base is slightly concave to maximize the bullet to bore seal.

I have run 1600 of these ...

I have run 1600 of these through my Springfield 1911a1 loaded in the last year. They have ALL fed without a glitch, they are very accurate, and have amazing expansion in wet newspaper, wet clay, and milk jugs full of water. It looks like the jacket fragments explosively because the milk jugs have dozens of little slits in the sides after being hit. Great all around performance.

I was not impressed with the construction or design of this hollow point. The edge of the hollow point was very jagged and this is the only bullet I have ever used in my 1911 that failed to feed on nearly ever round. I have fired several other brands of hollow points with zero problems.

I loaded these with 7.3 ...

I loaded these with 7.3 grains of Power Pistol at an oal of 1.236 and they went together well. The bullet looked very nice , the plating was consistent and there was little variation in shape from bullet to bullet. Me and a friend each went to the local range and shot 100 each , he was shooting a Glock 30 and I was using a Taurus PT1911. He was blowing the bull out of his target while firing almost twice as fast as me ; I on the other hand had a hard time hitting the paper and found the loads in general were hitting quite low. Now I'm not a great shot but that was terrible even for me. All rounds fed no problem for both of us thoo , so I'm assuming since it was the first time out for my Taurus maybe there is some kind of break in period , hope that's all it is . I saw no fouling of any quantity so it would appear the plating does it's job well. If it wasn't for the bad day I had at the range, and I do believe it's the gun more than the bullets, would have given them 5 stars.

I dont know if it was a bad run of bullets or what but the plating on these bullets when seating them would roll down and the bullet will not chamber like that I tried every way I could think of just could not get them to work

VERY disappointed in ...

VERY disappointed in these bullets. Loaded 10 rounds to test my recipe for use in my Kimber Compact Stainless II. I had 3 no feeds in 10 shots. Completely unacceptable. Normally my Kimber eats all I feed it. After contacting Rainier about my issue with their 200gr hp bullet in .451 for my Kimber, I was promptly and pleasantly greeted by a company representative that was aware of issues with that bullet with Kimbers. He, without reservation offered to replace my order with another bullet of my choosing. Talk about customer service. 5 stars!!!

This is a great all ...

This is a great all around bullet. Very accurate, and easy to load. I tested it on water filled milk jugs, and it expanded beautifully. Went through the first three, and landed in the fourth. Loaded with Titegroup, shot out of a Sig P220.

I've used the flat points and those worked great, so I decided to give the HP a shot and they provide the same results. Very good value for money. The best part is my Springfield loves em, great feeding and great groupings.

I have used Rainier ...

I have used Rainier products for years. Last time I bought the hollow point .451 200 grain. I was not impressed with the appearance of the bullet. I bought 1000 on sell. Rainier has bumped up their Q/C. They have a bright polished finish and smooth surface. The hollow point is deep and uniform. The pic in the on line catalog does it no justice. They feed perfectly. Most accurate and consistent. I will purchase this again.

My Dad actually bought ...

My Dad actually bought 1000 of these and sent them my way to load up .45ACP for both of us-they work great in my Kimber, as well as his G38 and P90. I haven't made it all the way through the box yet, but thus far, there have been absolutely no failures in regard to this bullet. I use a nominal load of either Bulls-eye or Silhouette in mixed commercial brass and usually CCI primers. They seat smoothly, crimp great, feed and function without problem and they're as consistent with regard to accuracy as any of my lead practice loads. I've had no fouling issues either, so these are great bullets IMHO. I don't measure them for bullet to bullet weight or measure because they're just for plinking, and some may scoff at that, but if it doesn't seat, or crushes the mouth of my brass, then I'll know a problem exists. If you're thinking about getting these-don't waste the opportunity-these will serve your plinking needs and keep down the smoke and fouling depending on your powder choice.

I'm switching from the ...

I'm switching from the Speer 200 grain Gold Dot to the Rainier for my competition loads. I've started shooting in falling plate and other steel shoots, and while the Speer Gold Dot has been the most accurate bullet out of my gun it's just too expensive to shoot in competition, so I went looking for an alternative. This Rainier bullet is IT. It feeds and functions flawlessly using the same powder charge as the Speer bullet, and hits exactly the same - right where I aim. (This is crucially important with a fixed-sight gun!) I don't know how they perform in ballistic gelatin as compared to the Gold Dots, but they knock steel targets down RIGHT NOW! I'm very pleased. And this bullet feeds perfectly in both a Kimber Classic and an Eclipse.

I loaded these with some ...

I loaded these with some Hornady XTP with the same powder charge. I found accuracy to be quite similar and price to be lower. The fed just fine in SIG P220s, 1911s, HK Mark23 and Tactical. For shooting steel plates, paper and the occasional space alien...these should do just fine.
