Product Information

Rainier offers a large selection of swaged lead core copper plated bullets that are low in cost but substantially high in accuracy. Rainier swages their bullets twice with lead wire in an effort to ensure the tightest uniformity as well as prevention of premature wearing of barrels. While Rainier doesn't publish their own reloading information, they recommended using lead bullet load data when loading their bullets as well as a slight taper crimp. Rainier recommends a maximum velocity of 1,500 fps.

These bullets feature a lead core that is completely covered by copper plating. They are resized after being plated with approximately 0.004" of copper plating. This unique design makes them suitable for most indoor ranges, which often require the use of bullets with no exposed lead. The base is slightly concave to maximize the bullet to bore seal.

I have had good results with these bullets. I had a little trouble at first, as I was thinking of them as jacketed bullets, which they are not. They are PLATED bullets. This means they are softer and perform more like naked lead bullets. So once I figured out that I needed to reduce the power load I was using, I started getting outstanding accuracy. Be sure to start low with your powder, and don't go by the jacketed load data. Go by plated load data if you have it. If not, start by using lead bullet load data instead.

Very Disappointed

These plated bullets did have the core completely covered with copper plating. However, when they were handloaded into Starline cases a noticeable buldge at the case mouth could be seen and the cartridge would neither chamber in my XDM nor pass into a Wilson Check Gauge. The average diameter of thirty (30) randomly selected bullets was 0.402 inches. So for my use these bullets cannot be used without resizing, which in turn may damage the plating.

For others this bulging issue may not be a significant issue so this product was given two stars instead of one.

Hand loaded as advertised, great round for the .40. I used acurate #7 powder and saw 1200 fps with a tight group at 25 yds.

I loaded these bullets for USPSA shooting. They are very accurate and feed perfectly with zero FTF or stove pipes. The round nose helps with feeding. You cannot beat the price or quality. I have used other but these work the best for me. I use 5.2 grains of W231 powder and CCI or winchester primers.

Ranier products have always been of good fit and finish. Thousands of rounds through multiple handguns. 1 failure to feed due to the owners lack of maintenance. As an instructor I feel compelled to instill the thought that to become proficient and comfortable with what could become their next best friend in a life/death situation, they must shoot regularly. Reloading is just an option.
Midway's customer service is and continues to be the benchmark for others to follow. Sure we line Larry's pocket with every order...but that is the American way.

Great bullets at a great price but be sure and bell the case mouth adequately, if you don't you can scrape the copper coating into a pile above the case rim causing the bullet not to seat completely into the chamber or sometimes stick in the chamber making live round extraction difficult.

Excellent bullets. Pushed with IMR SR4756 to 1145fps average out of a Sig P226. Excellent accuracy for a plated bullet. Cheap enough for plinking rounds by the 1000's. As always Midway USA delivered on time and cheaply.

Simply put...the easiest loading bullet for .40 cal target punching & plinking. The copper clad projectiles cut bore fouling to nil vs LCs. The Rainiers are appreciably cheaper than any FMJs. Midway's current price makes them even more desirable.They've functioned through every pistol we've tried them in (4 Mfgs) with Power Pistol and Zip for propellants at a near the top charge. Accuracy is every bit as good as the shooter's ability at close range through 50 yds.Try a box of 500 or 1000 for your next reloading session...I don't think you'll be disappointed with the results!
