Product Information

Rainier offers a large selection of swaged lead core copper plated bullets that are low in cost but substantially high in accuracy. Rainier swages their bullets twice with lead wire in an effort to ensure the tightest uniformity as well as prevention of premature wearing of barrels. While Rainier doesn't publish their own reloading information, they recommended using lead bullet load data when loading their bullets as well as a slight taper crimp. Rainier recommends a maximum velocity of 1,500 fps.

These bullets feature a lead core that is completely covered by copper plating. They are resized after being plated with approximately 0.004" of copper plating. This unique design makes them suitable for most indoor ranges, which often require the use of bullets with no exposed lead. The base is slightly concave to maximize the bullet to bore seal.

After experimenting with 115, 124 and 147gr bullets, I found that my HK USP-9 liked the 147s best. I run Unique through a Lee Turret press with their disk powder dispense. Quality of Rainier bullets has been excellent; resulting performance is quite good. Found this result transferred to a Beretta Cougar 8000 as well, once I bought an all-steel 9mm.

I received the 147 gr bullets today, just for the heck of it I weighed a random sampling of the 1000 I ordered. To my amazement each bullet was between +2 to +7 grains above 147 grain. I am not a happy camper! So I would advise you all to weigh a random sampling before you use them. A lesson learned,, but at what cost---primers, brass, and powder!!!

These are GREAT!!!!! I ...

These are GREAT!!!!! I got a box of 500 of them and loaded them up at different velocities from 750-1200+ fps (According to load data. Not chronoed) and they handle it PERFECTLY. (Good up to 1600fps before plating begins to be a concern according to Rainier's data) I shoot them out of a Hi Point C9 and a Springfield XD9 service model. I run power pistol up to 1100fps and VV-3N38 for anything above that. I also use most of the other Rainier 9mm products here on midway as well, 115's, 124's, etc.. And they are ALL 5 stars. But these should be 10.. I have not weighed bullets but I have measured them with calipers and they (at least in my first batch) ran .654" +/- .004" in length. For plinking this is just fine. I also noticed that when seating these, there is no deformation as there is with hollow points. They also seat to a VERY uniform C.O.A.L.THESE ARE BY FAR THE BEST BULLETS FOR THE MONEY..

This bullet performs accurately in my Glock 34, Kimber STS Target II and in my Baby Eagle. My Baby is a fussy eater and does not handle the Rainier 124 Gr flat point, but the Babe digests the 147 without a burp. Also, Phyllis at Rainier is most helpful.

I used these bullets for testing and looking for loads for a Smith and Wesson Performance Gun 952 9mm gun. Generally speaking I like all of the 9mm Ranier bullets, shoot well, inexpensive. The 200 grain wadcutter bullets in the 45 are great at the 25 yard distance.

Very good bullets. I find in my guns, a S&W 39 and 59 that the Remington 147 gr match shoot better. Different guns like different bullets, I am sure you are aware of that. Will be ordering more Remingtons soon.

I've been loading these ...

I've been loading these 147s in subsonic loads for several years now with a light taper crimp. I mostly shoot them in suppressed handguns and subguns and have found the groupings to be on par with commercial jacketed ammunition.Because they are plated, they will have far less structural rigidity than a jacketed round. One should be careful not to over crimp to avoid splitting the copper plating. Use in hot chambers which are common in closed bolt subguns like the MP5 and 9mm Colt law enforcement carbines is also discouraged. The high chamber temperatures soften the lead core and the thin plating may not prevent distortion of the round. This can be particularly problematic with suppressed weapons.

The Rainier plated ...

The Rainier plated bullets are the perfect mid-point between straight lead & full metal jacket. Using the 147gr weight bullet & the right powder charge has made my 9mm a 'tack driver'. I've purchased these several times previously, and will continue to use these bullets.
