Product Information

A free float handguard is attached to the receiver only and does not contact any point on the barrel. This reduces the chance of accuracy-reducing pressure on the barrel. The JP Modular Handguard is designed to improve the accuracy and the handling characteristics of the rifle. The two included JP Quick-Detach Sling Studs allow complete flexibility in bipod positioning. The two-piece design allows for easy installation and the ventilated, fluted design is 20% lighter than standard tubes which offers excellent heat dissipation. Posi-grip center assures non-slip grip. This handguard has a 1.75" ID and 2.00" OD.

Five stars for the ...

Five stars for the product itself. My biggest complaint is that the accompanying instructions are hard to follow. I ended up calling JP Rifles to figure out how to mount it. Word to the wise, don't use too much Loctite! Extremely comfortable to use, the ability to place mounting rails where you want them (especially at the 45-degree positions) is a great thing to have for flashlights and back-up optics or sights. Comes with two sling swivel studs, so you can use one for a bipod and the other for a sling! Minor gripe: rails are proprietary and somewhat expensive, so try to order everything you need up front!

The product performs ...

The product performs flawlessly except for the rubber ring. If you get your barrel super hot on several outings, the rubber O-ring melts and the fit from the handguard to the barrel nut is loose. All in ALL the product is excellent for rifles that don't get too hot...very hard for me not to get an AR's bbl case burning hot. The Barrel nut is right at the chamber and just aft of the hottest part of the barrel in rapid fire...the heat transfers to the rubber O-ring and it melts. Awesome choice for a dedicated long-range slow fire AR but horrible if you don't want to take it down and replace the O-ring once it melts.

These are the absolute ...

These are the absolute best handguards on the market in my opinion. I use them for 3gun competition, HD, zombies, you name it. Who needs 4 feet of rail space and 2 lbs of junk hanging off the barrel of your rifle? You can screw in rails too if you can't give up the tacticool phase. But really, this is the best handguard money can buy.

I have the rifle length ...

I have the rifle length version. Quality is excellent. I wish I could have the long adjusting slots in the 6:00 position so I can use the included sling swivel as an adjustable hand stop. Doing this would mean giving up 2 of 6 mounting holes, and putting the other pattern of slots directly under the optical axis (meaning I get heat waves interfering with the sight picture). Some more thought could have been put into the design so that more configurations would be available.

Five stars product. The installation instructions were a bit hard to follow due to usage of different terms for the same parts. Extremely easy to install but you will need an AR clamp and wrench and go easy on the Loctite. Awesome piece that looks great, is super light and very comfortable to use, you will NOT get 48" of 1913 railing that you will never use and adds weight, just place the few inches that you need where you need them. ***It's easy to find out how annoying unneeded railing is when you go fast and furious on a V-TAC barricade.***Comes with two sling swivel studs for a bipod or sling! The only "bad" thing is the rails are proprietary and somewhat expensive, but in the other hand they give you the ability to fully customize your piece w/o excess fat. Have three of them already and love them! Make sure you blue Loctite the set screws that connect the tube with the receiver extension! Great piece and you will love it!!

Great product, ...

Great product, installation not as bad as you might hear. Installation is not "permanent" either. 15 minutes with a $20 heat gun from your local hardware store will break down the Loctite, and it cleans right up should you need or decide to remove it.

Excellent forend. Nice ...

Excellent forend. Nice and light, comfortable to hold and still offers rail options. FYI, this is the current version, not the early one the first guy reviewed. My fit is flawless and there are no o-rings to melt. One word of caution: lock-tite the crap out of the receiver nut, or it will spin when you tighten down the barrel!

Great fit and finish. ...

Great fit and finish. Prior criticisms about an O-ring appear to have been resolved in the newer generation since there is no O-ring. I used red loctite gel and have no doubt that it will not come loose. Barrel cooling and air circulation are excellent. The rough textured surface is very nice and "grippy". The instructions are a bit confusing (pictures would help), but after you read them 10 times they make sense.
