Product Information

Berger's tactical bullet line was made specifically for military, law enforcement and tactical competition shooters. The OTM bullet remains stable at subsonic velocities. This bullet is designed to be loaded to the recommend OAL to allow for reliable magazine feeding while having the greatest BC possible. The Hybrid Ogive combines the best of both worlds combining a tangent and secant ogive that when coupled with a boat tail design reduces drag and gives the bullet a more aerodynamic profile helping to achieve a higher ballistic coefficient, flatter trajectory and less wind drift. These bullets are made with thicker jackets, allowing them to perform reliably under the most abusive conditions found in tactical competition, real world tactical situations and combat.

This bullet was designed and optimized for the 338 Lapua Magnum. It also works great in other cases. This is not loaded ammunition.

Upon first look at these bullets, the info is very inviting. Once loaded, was a different story. I loaded these in hope of replacing the 300 gr smk's. I'm firing them from a 1:10 twist 338 edge. At 100 yards, they would not group any better then 1". At 300 yards, it was hard to keep it on the paper. These bullets deform before ever leaving the barre.And in defence to myself and rifle, with 300 gr smk, it'll hold .225" at 100 yards, and still under 1" at 300. So enter at your own risk on the bergers if your shooting a magnum 338.

These 338LM bullets are ...

These 338LM bullets are the best. They shoot better than the other 7 kinds of boxed manufacturer ammunition tried. I zero at 500 yards and group normally about 6 inches with my Savage at that range. But, and there is a but. There is a guy Archay by post that teaches distance shooting and I heard lots about him. I was fortunate enough to meet him through a person in the military. Long story short I had the great opportunity to go shooting with him and others. He didn't bring a gun and was just watching and giving the guys he knew a hard time and some tips. I hesitantly asked him to shoot my rifle to see what he thought. In total he ended up putting 30 rounds through my rifle at the same distance, 500 yards and shot 10 groups of 3 rounds and all were under 1 1/2 inches. I was stunned. He just got behind my Savage 110 in the prone and supported and wow wow wow. I just threw ammunition to him. I just was stunned at his accuracy and consistency and thought I was dreaming. The guys that knew him were doing everything to distract him also. I have lots to work on but know how this ammunition can shoot through my gun.

I was using 300 grain SMK ...

I was using 300 grain SMK for a .338 Lapua. It shot very good and BC was very good....... UNTIL, the 300 grain Berger showed up! BC is very close to advertised with it coming out of a 26" barrel at 2775fps. This bullet rocks! I shoot under 1/2 MOA at 200 and makes shots at distance with wind easier. My rifle will not shoot another bullet at this time.

Great bullet, in my ...

Great bullet, in my opinion, Lapua bullets have been more accurate for me, to Will C, try zeroing in at a longer distance, your problem might be the short distance in which you're zeroing. My zeros happen at 500yds and with the Berger I'm printing 1/2 to a tad over MOA it hasn't been as consistent as my Lapua bullets but great none the less.

1/2 MOA in my Savage 338 ...

1/2 MOA in my Savage 338 Lapua. Right round 2800FPS. Someone claims to go to Berger site for info on why its not good in the Lapua. I could not find this info. So I e-mailed them about it. Saying someone on midway was making the claim that Berger says it is no good in the Lapua. The quick reply I got informed me it works good in the Lapua But I was not to exceed 2850 FPS. Also they said if the barrel was rough it would cause problems. I have not shot these any faster than 2800 FPS. I have been working with both these and the 300 gr Sierras both MOA or better at 2800FPS or less. Till I got the Sierras going close to 2850FPS and it blew out to almost 2MOA. Mike

I tested the Berger ...

I tested the Berger 300-grain .338 bullets in my .338 Lapua caliber Remington Model 700 Police rifle. To be thorough, I tested four other .338 match bullets (3 250-grain bullets, and the Sierra 300-grain HPBT), and the Bergers actually performed worse than all the others. The good news is that they still printed 5 shots into a 3-inch group at 200 yards, but the 300-grain Sierra's gave me a 1-inch 5-shot group at 200. All of the 250-grain bullets (Hornady, Sierra, Lapua) produced groups from 1/2 to 1 MOA at 200. I have had great success with Berger bullets in many other calibers, and I plan to try the 300-grain .338 bullets in a 22-pound 1,000-yard rifle chambered for a wildcat variant of the .338/.378 Weatherby. As soon as I can, I'll provide additional results.

An excellent long range ...

An excellent long range bullet. I am using them in a custom .338 RUM, OAL 3.8 in a custom PAC-NOR barrel. Accuracy is excellent at over 1000 meters. Definitely worth the price for the consistency.
