The quality of this sight ...

The quality of this sight is excellent. Sight picture is very well. Spring is extremely stiff but holds elevator very solid. Great finish. This was installed on a Marlin 336. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I had to do minor filing on the dovetail of the sight in order for it to fit. The bottom edges of the dovetail were too blunt and had to be "sharpened" to fit on the barrel. In the end, I'm very pleased with this sight.

First off, the finish is ...

First off, the finish is stunning! The polish and blueing is the finest I have ever seen on a sight of this style. It's finished better that my weapon! Second, my eyes are not the best anymore. I suffer from diabetes and am no longer young. The factory rear sight was not cutting it. The Marbles Flat Top was just the ticket. I have it mounted on a Marlin 1895G and gave up only 1/2" in sight radius, but the sight picture with the flat top, with the diamond below the notch, made all the difference. With, or without glasses, this sight can be seen. Third, being a shorter model, yes, it is STIFF to adjust. You have to pull the rear blade away from the barrel with one hand and move the elevator with the other. Some may say that is too hard. BUT, by being so stiff, IT DOES NOT MOVE when in place. With a .45-70's recoil, this is VERY important. At the range, at 50 yds. shooting off a light bench and only a folded soft guncase as a rest, I was able to keep all my rounds in a tight group despite the sun comming and going and the light changing every few seconds. The factory front sight was centered in the rear notch with just a hint of light on either side of the bead. Perfect. Can't say that with the wide open factory model! In closing, I am very impressed with the Marble's Flat Top sight. It has given me a second chance of enjoying iron sights in the traditional way, and made my groups tighter! A fine sight for any price!
