Bell & Carlson's Medalist Stocks were designed from the ground up to help maximize a rifle's performance by providing a rock-solid, ergonomic firing platform incorporating the accuracy enhancing characteristics demanded by today's serious shooters and the resilience necessary for use in extreme environmental conditions. All Medalist stocks are constructed of solid structural urethane combined with aramid, graphite and fiberglass materials to enhance strength. A precision, CNC-machined Aluminum Bedding Block makes contact with the full length of the rifle's action, ensuring a perfect metal-to-metal fit and serving to align the barreled action, stiffen the forend, and eliminate the need for conventional bedding methods. Medalist stocks come complete with a premium Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad, front & rear sling swivel studs and a textured exterior surface. Stock comes with a lifetime factory warranty on materials and workmanship.

NOTE: This stock is designed to fit Short Action Remington 700 BDL rifles with a hinged floorplate. Remington 700 Safari Grade, Classic and Varmint Special models are compatible with minor modifications. Stock is a Medalist Hunting "Standard Sporter-Style" with checkered grip and forearm panels, 13.5" Length of Pull and weight of approximately 2.0 lbs.

Great product! Very ...

Great product! Very similar to HS Precision's stock, but about $30 cheaper. One small problem: The barrel channel of the stock made significant contact with the barrel of my rifle. (Rem 700 SPS-Stainless in .243 Win.) This was easily remedied by inletting the barrel channel. I used a small grindstone on an electric drill-took about 10 minutes and the trouble was well worth the money saved.

What a difference this ...

What a difference this stock made on my Remington 700, 270wsm. I went from 1.75 moa to .25 moa. There was a bit more sanding on the barrel channel than I expected, but then again I took my time using 220 grit paper because I did not want to take off more than needed to slip dollar bill under barrel all the way to receiver, A true free float barrel. And did I mention it made my rifle look better and feel great when brought to bear. Finally the rifle I always wanted.

I recently purchased a Bell and Carlson Medalist Rifle Stock Remington 700 BDL Short Action with Aluminum Bedding System Synthetic for my Remington 700 CDL limited edition CDL in 260 Remington. I was getting horizontal stringing and was worried that the walnut stock and Floridas humidity were not jiving. I hoped this stock might tighten up groups a bit.For starters, the stock looked like a million bucks and was cosmetically perfect. However, as an earlier reviewer said, my barrel made significant contact with the stock and was nowhere close to a drop in fit; I now understand from other sources the Remington stainless fluted barrels have a larger contour than Remingtons standard, blued sporter barrel. I called Bell & Carlson and they told me I should use a dowel rod and sanding paper and keep sanding the channel until the barrel was free floated. I was advised not to use a Dremel tool as it may take off too much in one place. So, I would sand for a while, torque the barrel and action in the stock and use a dollar bill to check for pressure points. This process took me about ten to twelve tries and about two hours in total. Once I was finished, the gun looked great and I was hopeful that my groups would shrink some. Well, long story short, if the new stock helped any, it was miniscule at best. That being said, I really like the stock and aluminum bedding system and just think I have other issues. I also cant fault Bell & Carlson to much for fit, as if it fit my gun, then it would have bigger gaps in a smaller contour barrel. I would not hesitate to buy another stock from Bell & Carlson, but I just wont have as high expectations next time.

I bought this stock to ...

I bought this stock to replace the Hogue factory stock that came with my SPS. It's changed the rifle in every way. Better looks, better handling and better grouping. It was also absolute simple to mount - a real drop in!I have other Rifles with stocks from McMillan and HS, and I have to admit that the B & C's compare favorably with them. B & C stocks deliver almost the same workmanship for a lot less money and waiting time. I only can recommend this stock and probably it would not be the last one I buy.

I loved the stock but I ...

I loved the stock but I did not like the fit. I have 2 Rem 700 SA's and neither would fit without having to do some modifications. The floorplate would not go into the recessed area on one and the other would go, but when I tightened the screws my bolt was binding. I guess there is no such thing as a drop in stock.

I recieved my Bell and ...

I recieved my Bell and Carlson stock the other day for a Remington 700 sps in 308. The stock dropped in place with perfect fit in all of 10 minutes. I love the feel and the way it looks on my rifle. Today I went out and put some rounds thru the barrel and was satisfied with 1/2 moa at 100 yards with federal 150 grain ammo. I am very pleased with this product and couldnt be happier.

We purchased this stock ...

We purchased this stock to replace the plastic unit that came with a recently-purchased used Rem M700. We had the rifle modified with a rechamber (to 308 Win. from the original 300 Sav.) and installation of a heavier recoil lug. Because of the heavier lug, fitting required a slight amount of grinding in the lug recess to drop in. Note that with the original lug, action to stock fit is a drop-in. Also, a minor amount of material had to be removed from the action screws since the action sets lower in this stock than the original. The instructions included by Bell & Carlson point this out very clearly, i.e. that some fitting may be required. The whole job took about an hour, requiring only a file and a small hand-held grinder.As for the product quality: Excellent! The finish is durable and uniform; recoil pad fit is near-perfect. Accuracy is impressive; with hand loads we have managed to post 5-shot groups ranging from 2.7" to 1.5" at 200 yds...not bad for a sporter contour 22" barrel. I have a similar Bell & Carlson in a Weatherby Accumark and have been pleased with it as well. Would purchase another.

Awesome stock! I took a ...

Awesome stock! I took a chance, and ordered one of these to see how it compared to an HS I just got. I could not believe how similar they were. Both were within one ounce of each other in weight. Both stocks were nice and stiff. I must admit, the edge went to the B&C. It comes with checkering, a real Decelerator recoil pad, and a cheek piece. I actually sold the HS, and decided to keep the B&C. You cannot go wrong with this stock, $50 less than HS, and you are not waiting 5 months to get one.

This is the second Bell & ...

This is the second Bell & Carlson stock I've purchased and I am VERY pleased! The first one I put an action in using good mounting practices made a custom sporter barreled Remington. It shoots 4 shots inside 2 inches at 300 yards with basic factory ammo. The stock looks, feels, and is VERY sturdy. It is perfect for an ALL weather hunting rifle. I will be purchasing another one.

After purchasing this stock I have determined that it is not a drop in fit. Took about 30 minutes of Dremel tool work. Stock was touching all down the right side of barrel and the bolt slot had to be ground. However after this work it shot and looked great. So much better feel and look than the standard Tupperware stocks.
