Meprolight Tru-Dot sights are up to 20% brighter than other tritium sights. The front dot is slightly brighter than the rear sight to help the shooter focus on the target. Light tubes are sealed with a patented bonding process that makes them impervious to solvents and oils. Tru-Dot sights have a 10-year illumination warranty.

Bright enough for low ...

Bright enough for low light, tough, and compact. 2 things I learned while installing, which I wish I'd known before:1. Mine required some filing to fit. I filed both sides evenly, but in retrospect wish I'd filed one side to correct a minor drift issue with my Ruger.2. I highly recommend using a Roll Pin punch to re-install the roll pin. My regular punch kept slipping off due to my amateur skills and I scratched my barrel quite a bit, as well as pancaking the roll pin head so that it will not quite go in all the way.Great product, despite my lack of skill.

I can't say enough good things about this product. I've owned an SP 101 for nearly 20 years but, for most of that time, it was only a gun that I wanted to like. It felt good in the hand and had the right balance of size, power and weight, but the sights were so difficult to use in all but the best light that I didn't feel confident carrying it. After installing this front sight it has become my go-to piece. The installation was quick and surprisingly easy. All it took was a punch, a vice, a hammer and a hand-held drill. Any reasonably handy person should not be intimidated by this project.

I installed this by using the proper pin punch, putting my gun in a vice with wood blocks and then clamping the sight down before I started to drill. Very slowly and from both sides of the hole. Not one single scratch. A little LocTite, put the pin in, and it is good to go. Glows bright and easier to use than the stock sight in any light.

Installed this on my Sp101 to aid shooting in low-light conditions. Fairly easy to install, fit and finish was great. Sight is very bright, and works great in low to no light areas. I would definitely buy from Mepro again for another handgun.

I just got this tonight and the install was a snap. It will take a steady hand, however I needed no clamps or drill-press. I took the pin out with a hammer and nail, drilled out the sight with a 1/16th drill and a cordless Ryobi. Hammered in a new pin and it was snug as could be! I love the sight picture, it does feel like it may shoot low as the original sight was a lower profile. But not a huge deal for a snub-nose, the factory sight shot too high for me. I plan to put this sight on any other defense gun I purchase.

I installed the sight myself. Very bright and very easy to pick up at night. The only downside is if I align the sights properly, it shoots very low, making it necessary to place the dot just above the rear sight notch. That's the only reason I did not give it a five star rating.

Purchased mine a couple of years ago. Fiddled with the install myself...lost the roll pin. Broke down and had a gunsmith install it. Fits great.SP101 shot much closer to point of aim with most ammo. Only light .357 (110 gr.) shoots low. Sights much easier to see day or night. I don't line up the top flat part of the sight with the notch. I put the dot in the notch and can hit the A zone ( IDPA target) out to 25 yards.Would rate it five stars, but I don't think instructions were good enough. The finished product is worth five stars though.

Installation was fairly straight forward. You will need a drill press or very steady hand. Site picture is bright and easy to see. Drawback is that the top edge of mine is slightly uneven. Compensate for this by placing the round dot in the u-notch of the rear site.
