On a cloudy day it works great. On a sunny day, take a black marker and color your bullets. I've been extremely happy with consistant performance.

Lots of bang for buck

I purchased this chronograph after using a friends. It has a lot of great features built in. I ordered the PC adapter so that I could read and then compile data from the shooting bench, thus not having to keep going forward of the firing line. Compared the velocity readings with a very expensive chronograph, spot on! Good customer service from the factory as well. Lost one of the vanes and they sent me a replacement free the next day.

Had this for a year now. I like it haven't had any problems with the functionality of it. I did have the plastic front fall off that covers the screen and buttons. Going to try super glue or silicone to stick it back on. I'll keep using it. Works great from everything from pellet rifle to my 45-100 black powder rifle.

Anyone who makes the effort to reload should own this chronograph. I have had one for about a year. A key to accurate shooting is finding a load with a consistent muzzle velocity using a specific gun. I record 30 round batches and enter them in a spreadsheet that calculates mean velocity and standard deviation, looking for a variance less than 20 fps. Some of my pet loads have changed. This chronograph is light and simple to set up and operate. I keep an extra 9 V battery under the battery door (because I have a bad habit of leaving it on). I bought a light tripod that stays attached. As for the range of measurement, I shot rocks with a Slingshot and measured 180 to 220 fps. There's a lot of deviation between .22 rimfires. Model 1911 .45 ACP clocks at about 850 to 900 fps and I get 2850 fps out of my Garand. If you shoot two rounds that are at the same velocity, displays "Dupl" instead of leaving you wondering if the shot registered. The LCD display is not as easy to read at 15 ft in bright sunlight especially with my eyes. Also, a remote reset would be useful.

This chrono has a great value to cost ratio. Errors are less likely than other comperably priced models. Make sure the batteries stay fresh though; it will offer strange data. New batteries=perfect again. I accidentally hit mine with a 190gr bullet at 940fps! I disassembled, reassembled (with some glue) and it still works perfectly! Lucky, but also a testament to the design. If you don't want to pay for an Ohler, this a great value. (keep it away from muzzle blast for accurate readings)

Have taken this to the range a couple of times. Seems to read everything perfectly except a BB gun (3/4 of the time I got errors to read but when it did read the velocities were all in the same ballpark). Everything else from 22 lr to hot 45 colt hand loads worked fine (once I moved the pal far enough away from the muzzle blast). Read speeds at the expected velocity ranges even AFTER being shot by a friend with a 22 lr (oops)! Shot through the top middle of the chrono and dented but did not penetrate the back near-center. Still read right as expected thereafter, although you can now use it as a baby rattle from all the loose plastic and 40 grains of lead inside! Takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin' but maybe don't try the gunshot resilience test at home.

A great little Chronograph.I bought this unit to replace a Chrony F1 that was both troublesome and inaccurate. If you shoot indoors or in low light dont waste your time on a chrony. Buy this pro chrono pal instead. You wont be sorry. Its worth the extra $.

My experience with this has been great. It's easy to set up and measure velocities. As long as the sun is above the horizon, the unit reads consistently. The only negative I can think of is that if you want to measure in meters per second, you have to hold down the review button while turning the unit on every time you want meters. This is kind of annoying; it would be better to have a feet/meter switch or something so you can set the units you want once instead of every power-on.Overall, this has been well worth the money, even with the measuring unit hassle.
