Product Information

AccuBond represents the most advanced bonded core bullet technology to date. Through a proprietary bonding process that eliminates voids in the bullet core, AccuBond marries Nosler's traditional copper-alloy jacket with its special lead-alloy core. The result is a bullet that flies true, penetrates deep, won't cause extensive barrel fouling, and will retain 60-70% of its weight. The polymer tip helps protect against deformation while initiating expansion upon impact. This is not loaded ammunition.

I have used 180 gr nosler partitions extensively for 20 years in both 30-06 and 300 win. mag. I cannot fault the partition on terminal performance on big game. Performance aside, I have never liked the fact that the partition's lead nose will flatten in the magazine box during recoil. The accubond nose does not deform in the magazine near to the extent of the partition since it has a polymer tip. The accubond is just as accurate as any of the nosler bullets in my rifles. I have had to adjust the seating depth of my dies to seat the ogive of this bullet the same distance from the lands because the nose section is different than the partitions (needs to be seated deeper to retain the same distance from the lands). The accubond is a longer bullet than the partition. Terminal performance is good. Expect more tissue damage than with the partition though. The accubond will mushroom more than the partition does, even though it does in fact appear to retain most of its weight after impact with tissue and bone. Bore fouling doesn't seem to be any worse than partitions (some other bonded core bullets are because the jacket is softer). I shot an elk at 210 yds last year with this bullet through the shoulder with my 300 win. mag. The bullet lodged in the hide on the off side of the shoulder. The bullet shock was some worse than similar shots I have made with the partition. I feel comfortable with the performance of this bullet for big game and will continue to use it.

Used this bullet in my HS Precision 300 Ultra Mag on a recent trip to Zimbabwe. Used RL 25 with Chrono loads of 3410. Bullet's performance was not very good on larger game -- apparently the higher velocity was too much, as it was blowing up on impact, especially on waterbuck and kudu-sized game. On smaller game such as impala, bullet worked well, however again the expansion was very extreme. My PH stated he had never seen the types of wounds the bullet was leaving in smaller sized game. I have used this same bullet in firearms with less velocity and its performance was better. If you are looking for a bullet to take elk-sized game with the ultra velocity calibers you would be much better served to use the A-Frame.

The only one

Until this bullet was introduced I used Nosler Partitions because they gave the best accuracy and performance. The Accubond is significantly better.

My nephew took an elk with my 30-06 and even with-less-than-perfect shot placement the elk went down within 5 yards. All of our 5 or 6 kills with this bullet took only one round and all moved fewer than 10 yards. I also use the Accubond in my 338 Win mag and have had the same result including a one-shot kill on a bison. When it becomes available in 243 we'll be switching there too.

Just one caveat. We had great performance from the Partition with shoulder shots but the Accubond destroys too much tissue on exit to use in this way. A broadside through the ribs doesn't destroy any meat and is just as effective. IMHO this bullet is the one and only choice for serious hunters.

Update: With a little more load tweaking, I am now able to consistently shoot .50 MOA out of my 300 RUM. Killed two South Texas whitetails last season. One a big bruiser with a 200 yard shoulder shot. Dropped in his tracks and only kicked three times. "Field Autopsy" revealed two blown shoulders, three inches of spinal column missing, internal jello and a dime-sized exit wound. Second deer shot in the neck at 150 yards. Did a eight-foot high back-flip and ran for 200 yards 'til he drained all blood outta' jugglers. Also dropped two big feral boars with head-shots at 175 yards. Bullet is dead accurate and devastating.

I have killed two WV ...

I have killed two WV whitetails with the accubond and have mixed feelings about them. In both instances, the bullet went thru and thru and did not make very big holes each time. On the second deer, it hit a rib on the way in, went almost all the way through the trunk of the animal and didn't make more than a dime sized hole. I am using a .330 win. mag. and am cooking these bullets at 3500 f/s. I went this direction because of the brushy area, but would like more of a mushroom effect. In their defense, both deer had lungs of soup when I opened them up. Maybe I'm just expecting too much! Neither ran more than 15 yards.

I love this bullet! I hand loaded the 180 grain Accubond for an Elk hunt by Ruidoso, New Mexico and shot a 6x5 in the neck. The bullet broke the elk's neck and dropped it with the elk taking no more than a step. The projectile was recovered and it had mushroomed well with a weight of 131 grains. It is my go-to round for elk now. I also had a new rifle - the Marlin XL7 and I can say it is a keeper! I'm having elk burgers tonight.

Shot a buck last year at ...

Shot a buck last year at 150 yds with 300wsm. Deer was walking, shot him about an inch back behind lungs. Deer ran off with no blood trail. Found him over 500 yds away by doing a grid search by luck. Over an hour later he was still alive lying on ground. Bullet entered behind last rib and exited behind last rib. Lungs not hit. Very small exit wound with no blood; nothing to trail. I will be going back to 180gr ballistic tips for whitetail when at least you get a blood trail or they drop on the spot.

Shot from a Howa and Winchester 70 both in 30-06. Accubonds clover at 100yds from a dead rest. At 200yds, they are sub moa, from a dead rest. I shot the rounds into stumps at 10yds and 100yds. All ten rounds retained 86%(+/-1%) of weight in a nice, high, mushroom shape. My father-in-law and I used these on our elk hunt this last season(2010). I loaded these using IMR 4320 in our 30-06 with a muzzle velocity of 2850fps. I shot my elk at 20yds away through the heart and one lung before exiting with a small hole and little known expansion. The elk went down after two steps. I did have to put another round in to finish it. My father-in-law shot his elk at 457 yds (laser ranged) right between the shoulder blades. The velocity was roughly 2100fps at that distance. The bullet devastated the spine (dropped instantly), held 70% weight retention, and lodged in the chest cavity where we recovered it.

I recently found a load for my 300 Win Mag using 180 Grain AccuBonds in front of RL 22, that resulted in .50" groups at 100 yards. I know folks who have killed mature bull elk, 330 B&C and larger, at 300-400 yards using this caliber and bullet combo, and these bulls have not walked more that 50 yards after taking a hit in the lungs or heart with a single shot. Hopefully I will have a chance to do the same this fall. I highly recommend these bullets for both their accuracy, and killing ability, as I have noted!

Loaded this bullet on RL22 in a 300 Win Mag at about 3100fps and was getting roughly 1" groups at 100 yards. Got a chance to take a mid sized 170 pound black bear a few days ago. He was quartering towards me at 45 yards. Dropped him on the spot. Shot entered midway down his neck took out his heart and a lung and was under the skin at the end of the opposite side rib cage. Bullet looked just like Noslers photos after going trough about two and a half feet of bear. 80% weight retention. Very pleased.Time to try it out on deer.

Outstanding accuracy but performance on big game is no better than a Ballistic Tip. I've used it on pronghorn, mule deer and elk. All were one shot kills at more than 200 yards shot out of a 300 Weatherby. Impact velocity would have been under 2700 fps all three bullets exploded after penetrating the rib cage. No bullets were recovered. Great bullet for punching paper or shooting coyotes. Swift A-Frames are my choice for elk, Swift Scirrocos for anything smaller.
