The Fobus Compact Paddle Holster is excellent quality and a great value. The design does not require a belt and can be attached or removed in seconds. Carefully molded polymer bodies mean excellent retention without the need for an external safety strap. The paddle has molded protrusions which will fit under your belt and help hold the paddle in place. The holster is riveted to the paddle for a more secure hold. The holster molding itself secures the firearm by the trigger guard.

I purchased this Fobus holster for my Walther p22 about two years ago. Like others, I am impressed with the overall quality and like others, I was frustrated by how tight it fit the holster. In the great tradition of thinking there must be a better way, I just waxed the holsters interior with a silicone-based polish (i.e., Galco Draw-EZ Holster Treatment or its equivalent from any hardware store). I then cleaned the P22s trigger guard area and wiped it with a lightly oiled cloth. That was six months ago. Holster works great; holds firm but does not require vise grips to get the pistol out and all materials still look good.I had trouble with the front-site on the P22 before I had the holster, so I glued it in place with a dab of Gorilla glue (a quick search of the net will reveal this is a common problem with the P22 and a common fix). Ive never had any problems with the holster de-siting the pistol.

After reading the reviews ...

After reading the reviews and noting that the holster had an unusually tight grip on the pistol I ordered one for my P22. I hoped that Fobus might have taken the criticism of the holsters tightness to heart and redesigned it. Sorry it is still very tough to extract the pistol from the holster. Instead of returning it I modified it by drilling out the top rivet by the trigger guard and replacing it with an 8-32 1/2" cap screw and nut. After a drawing the pistol a few times and playing with the tightness of the nut I was satisfied that the holster would release the pistol and leave the holster where it belonged. I added a bit of Blue Loc-tight to the threads on the nut to keep it from working loose. This seems to have resolved the problem. The pistol is still retained in the holster but releases it fairly easily. It would certainly be better if Fobus redesigned the holster molds a little. Fobus makes some great holsters at a reasonable price but think hard about ordering one for your P22.

I am sorry to say that I am very disapointed in Fobus on this holster. I wish now that I had paid more heed to the other reviews. I only went ahead and ordered this because it was the only polymer holster I could find for this pistol. When I first tried it's fit, it was far too tight and the finish on my brand new gun pressure flaked off into the holster. Since I wanted it to work I got out the heat gun and proceeded to try to relieve the contact area. No luck. I then drilled out the rivets holding on the paddle and used the heat gun again on both sides. Thinking that I'd acheived my goal, I put it back together only to discover the next day that upon cooling, it had shrunk back to being too tight. I am extreamely displeased that this has caused damage to the pistol and I do not know if I can return this peice of junk!

Great buy! Originally it was really tight as commented on but I sprayed it with ArmorAll as recommended in some of the reviews and it works fine now. Definitely will try Fobus holsters for my other guns.

It is impossible to draw the weapon from this holster! The first time I used it, I needed 2 hands and a friend to draw the gun and like another poster ended up with a broken front sight. I tried slipping the gun in and out a few times to see if it would loosen up but after about 20 tries all I had to show was a shiny spot worn on the side of the trigger guard.

Bought this holster a few days ago and really like it. It is very comfortable and retains the firearm securely. If you draw the weapon with even a little authority, it releases just fine. You just can't be mamby pamby about getting your gun out. It should help keep someone from easily grabbing your weapon from the holster. The front sight of my P22 does keep coming loose, but that is a design fault with the P22. I give the holster a 4 plus out of 5.

As others have stated, the retention of this holster is too strong and has no adjustment. I ended up drilling out the top rivet below the trigger guard and replaced it with a screw, 2 washers, a locking nut and a small rubber "O" ring. I placed the "O" ring between the two plastic halves and squeezed it with the screw, washers and locking nut, allowing me to adjust the tension. This has worked very well. -- My wife used this modified holster during an 8-hour training class and had zero problems drawing the pistol.

Was shocked when we first tried it, thought I had made a big mistake but I read the reviews and coated it with Armour All and within minutes was pulling it out. It does have to be a quick upright motion, but you never have to worry about it accidently coming out. With more practice it will get better.

I purchased this holster for my Taurus PT24/7 DS Pro. You must read the instructions in order be happy with the product. The holster must be mounted on your belt, NOT held in your hands. With the weapon unloaded, you must draw the weapon straight out of the holster along the line of the cant. This is a design feature to prevent others from taking your weapon. Your draw must be a quick pull without hesitation or stopping during the draw to overcome the passive retention system of Fobus holsters. You should practice this draw 25-50 times a day until you are confident and comfortable with it.If the draw is still to difficult, you can lubricate the inside of the holster, especially the trigger guard area (where there is the most retention) with light gun oil, silicone spray, or Armor All.
