The GoldenRod Dehumidifer Rod is designed to handle humidity from the interior of your safe, locker or cabinet and protects against rust by generating a low level of heat that removes moisture from the air. All GoldenRod Dehumidifier Rods come with a detachable plug for easier mounting. This model must be mounted horizontally at the bottom of an enclosure to work properly. Limited lifetime warranty.

I have been using Goldenrods in my Gun safes for years. Contrary to some reviews these are NOT designed to remove humidity from your safe. What they are designed to do is to ever so slightly raise the temperature of the inside of the safe in order to raise the dew point. This keeps moisture from condensing on your guns and therefore keeps them from rusting. It's simple and it works! I have had a Goldenrod in my safe in my basement with 60-65% relative humidity for over 15 years and have had absolutely no issues with rust. Buy with confidence!

I mounted the product in my 12 gun safe. It does not really do that much to lower the moisture content in my safe. I have a digital temp/humidity meter installed and with the rod turned on the humidity changes little if any. The product is still functioning though after 1 year so at least there quallity even though they dont work all that well.Hope you found this informative.

Well guys, and gals this 24 inch dehumidifier really doesn't dehumidify anything. It simply works by changing dew points. In english that means it simply elevates safes internal temp by a few degree's. So that when you open the safe door,it prevents the warmer exterrior air from rushing into your cooler safe and guns and form dew. WATER DROPPLETS In the winter here on the coast we get 68 degree F nights with 72% relative hummidity. My safes hygrometer says 70% relative hummidity, and has said that since my silica can died on me. So after reading alot of good reports on this thing I bought the 24" model. Placed in my 22 gun safe, ran the cord and closed the door and locked. 24hrs later I opened the door and to my amazment the hummidty level stayed the same. Checked the tube, its darn hot to touch, like holding onto a very hot potatoe. So I called Goldenrod to make sure my device was working properly, that's when he told me it doesnt remove any moisture from the air at all. He then said it changes dew points, thats it. REALLY, WELL THE PACKAGE CLEARLY SAYS ELIMINATES DAMPNESS, MILDEW, CONDESATION, OOOOHHH YEAH HUMIDITY!!! It does non of those except CONDENSATION! Bottom line your guns still set in whatever humidity level your A/C keeps your house at. I live 1 block from the beach, where temps go well into the low 100s in summer with relative humidity at 100 to 110% after afternoon showers. I had to redry my large silica can every 72hrs in summer, now without silica this Goldenrods going to get one heck of a workout. ONLY TIME WILL TELL. Ohhh almost forgot to mention, because the interrior of your safe will be slightly warmer then the room its in, the warmer air on the inside expands and forces out threw any open seals. More or less forcing out any cold dense humid air that would turn to condensation. I only rated this 3 stars because I have only used it for 1 week. Will hit you up after 6 months, and give you all an update. If it keeps my guns rust free in this enviroment, it should work anywhere!!

The GoldenRod is the only way to go. Don't waste your time with dessicants. I was worried about the heat from the rod warming up items that are close to it, but it warms the air without projecting heat. Awesome product!

I received a 30 gun safe as a gift 10 years ago. The retailer told me to just use a large dessicant bag to prevent humidity build-up. The safe is in my finished basement which is heated and air conditioned and I run a dehumidifier during the summer. After 2 weeks, in spite of religiously keeping the dessicant dry, I was getting surface rust on some of my guns. Thought I'd try a Golden Rod, as I really had nothing to lose and they were well recommended. Installed the Golden Rod; end of rust problems. Threw the dessicant bag in the trash. I wouldn't be without one of these. It is a truly great product.

2 years ago, I converted a small upright freezer to a lockable dry box for primer, powder and ammo storage by using an 18" Goldenrod to keep the humidity level low. I keep silica dessiccant in the box, but in over 18 months, it has not had to be taken out and dried in the oven to recharge. I am buying another one for my gun safe.

We have two of these dehumidifiers in service, one in a safe at my home and another at my parents' home. They use very little power and we have had no rust or mildew problems. These are far better than the silica gel moisture absorbers that require periodic baking for 3 hours at 240 degrees-my family hated it when we had those and the oven had to be used in hot summer weather!
