Product Information

A twitch of your finger or thumb is all that you need. The Twitch features a pass-through lock bar from which the "kick" of the blade sticks through. By pressing on the "kick", one is able to initiate the opening of the blade. SOG Assisted Opening Technology then takes over to assist the full opening and solid lock up of the knife. Blades are made of AUS 8 stainless steel hardened to 57-58HRC. Includes pocket clip. Covered under SOG's lifetime warranty. Handles are made of anodized 6061-T6 aluminum with a gray finish. Blade length: 2". Overall length: 4-3/4". Closed length: 2-7/8". Weight: 2 oz.

I have been looking for a ...

I have been looking for a high quality knife for daily use for a long time. I came across the SOG Twitch 1 here at Midway and caught it on sale. I am not disappointed in the least. It arrived sharp with excellent fit and finish. It is just heavy enough without being to much and does everything I need a small knife to do. Highly recommended.

I gave this a fair ...

I gave this a fair rating. The safety doesn't work well. You do not need it on any Twitch series knife; it's there if you want it. However, the fact that a function of the knife doesn't work is not worthy of high marks, especially an SOG knife. Its sharp and it opens fast however so do many knives. The Twitch 2 and Twitch XL do not have this problem. I thought it may have been an issue unique to my knife so I sent it back and ordered another one which had the same issue. It's a cool knife and I like the SOG Twitch series of knives so I kept the second one and tossed it in the knife drawer. As mentioned it's very sharp, opens fast, and feels great in your hand for a small knife.

This afternoon I took ...

This afternoon I took this knife to a gunsmith and he took my knife apart. He showed me the tang of the safety and how it works. In this Twitch 2 the quarters are so cramped that it doesn't want to go from the off to on position without much work. However now the safety works fine. I guess my problems were user error. Everything works on my knife, four stars.

I bought this knife to ...

I bought this knife to replace a small pocket folder that I carried for many years...and lost.I was intrigued by the S.A.T. (assisted opening), and wanted a knife that would be unobtrusive in my pocket as my EDC.The Twitch 1 is a little heavy for it's size (compared to my lost knife), and the "money clip" is sometimes awkward in the grip.The assisted opening is fun to play with, but the lock -- to keep it open, or to keep it from opening (accidentally) -- is tiny, very stiff, and difficult to operate.To compensate for this, the lock isn't vital. It's unlikely to come open in your pocket because the force necessary to overcome the initial detent is reasonably large.Once the blade opens past the detent, it does spring open quickly with a satisfying 'click.' It is also "SOG sharp"...probably the sharpest, out-of-the-box knife I have ever seen.Because of this, closing the knife (at least the first few times) is a little unsettling. The easiest technique is to hold the blade between thumb and forefinger and to depress the spine lock similarly with your other hand. This puts one or two fingers directly in the path of the closing blade. Scary! However, the blade does not spring shut, and after a few operations confidence builds. I have not cut myself with this knife, nor do I think it likely -- at least not during opening or closing it!If you're looking (as I was) for a compact, easy-to-carry knife for EDC, the Twitch 1 is a pretty good fit. I plan to carry it for many more years.
