Yep - it's polymer, but ...

Yep - it's polymer, but the springs are tight, it has the newer model hammer and the entire unit is solid. Read GunBlast's review of the polymer guard. He actually went to Ruger and watched the drop tests with polymer and metal trigger groups. Though I'm an old school anti-plastic guy too - the polymer housings are in fact more durable.

I'm not a gunsmith, but I wanted to learn about the 10/22 trigger and this afforded me the opportunity to have one to play with and learn.With this one, I replaced the hammer with a target hammer, replaced the stock mag release with a NC unit, and replaced the stock bolt release with an Volquartsen auto bolt release. Now I'm going to order some more custom stuff just to have some fun and build another trigger unit.Thanks for making this product available to us, Midway!

This is any excellent 10/22 trigger housing replacement. Irrespective of previous reviewer's review, the trigger housing group received was polymer (02/11). The quality is excellent, but I will move all the internals to an all metal housing. I hate plastic in a firearm.

I've used a number of these over the years and they've all been high-quality replacements. One was to remedy the so-called 'trigger-work' done by a rifle's previous owner, two were for custom-made rifles I was building at the time and the last two I used in a Gatling gun I was building from a kit; all of them had a fine finish and they fit & performed flawlessly. I am considering purchasing another to install a Volquartsen trigger kit in, so as to keep one of my original 60s vintage trigger assemblies intact. That way, I can always revert my 1969-made rifle back to factory originality, but have the advantage of using a tuned trigger. Thanks, Midway, for offering a fine selection of factory parts!

Very nice...I expected to receive the synthetic plastic one, but instead this is an aluminum trigger guard housing with all metal (note...no plastic) parts. I ordered 10/27/08. Very tight fitting parts. This must be the one that they are using for the target versions as the standard and deluxe models have switched to plastic.

Midway was wrong (at ...

Midway was wrong (at least on my order) it is not synthetic! Mine is metal with the crinkle coat. Ruger has done away with the metal trigger and trigger housing and replaced with synthetic injection molded plastic. So I was happily surprised go get one of the last metal groups. If I had known I would have ordered 2!!
