Product Information

Hogue Shotgun Stocks are molded from a super tough fiberglass reinforced polymer ensuring stability and accuracy. These superior stocks are durable, weatherproof and non-slip. The grip of the stock and the entire forend are OverMolded with soft rubber for outstanding handling. Features also include ambidextrous ergonomic palm swells and a soft recoil cushioning butt pad. In addition to popular Realtree Hardwoods and Max-4 camouflage patterns, this stock set is also available in a blaze orange color featuring "LESS LETHAL" insignia on the buttstock. Whether used for hunting or law enforcement, a Hogue stock combination is an excellent choice.

Mossberg shotguns with 6.75" forend tubes will require an adapter nut, product number 643889.

OVERMOLDED GRIPS The ...

OVERMOLDED GRIPS The textured, rubber "overmolding" on forend and grip of stock is comfortable, and provides excellent grip.RECOIL PAD The 1" recoil pad is much better than pad from factory wooden stock. The recoil pad/butt of the gun has uncommon dimensions. I don't suppose this usually matters, but I was looking for a slip-on recoil pad because I wanted to add L.O.P., and I couldn't find any pads to fit.FOREND The forend is shorter than the factory wood forend and is further from the receiver. If you have shorter arms and like to grip the very back of the forend, you may need to reach an extra inch or so.STOCK Stock is very hollow and very light. This changes the balance and feel compared to the heavy wooden stock. Personally, I wish it were a little heavier. I put one of those stock ammo sleeves on my gun and always keep five shells in it just to add weight. The grip of the stock is overmolded, but the rest of the stock isn't. The rest just feels like plain, smooth fiberglass. The stock has a sling stud, but you'd have to get the front stud separately. This stock has the same L.O.P. as the factory wooden stock.INSTALLATION The forend will likely need to be sanded on the inside before it will fit. Installation can be very frustrating if you don't know this. The stock had a way of working loose until I used Loc-Tite on the bolt.OVERALL:The grips really are nice and are the main selling point of this set. The recoil pad is pretty decent too, I think. Everything seems durable enough, and I for one think the gun looks nice with this set on it. Installation is OK once you know what you're doing. My main doubts about the set revolve around the "paddle" portion of the stock. It's too light for me, and I can't get spacers or slip-on pads to add L.O.P.

The actual product is terrific. However I was very surprised that Hogue does not include stock bolt with the kit. I installed my set on a pre-1968 Mossberg 500A. The old stock bolt was not compatible with the new Hogue stock, even though they are both full sized stocks (The internal channel is different). Mossberg will mail you free of charge. I believe what is needed is a standard 5 1/2" bolt. Also, I DID NOT need the adapter ring for to install the Hogue foregrip on my Mossberg 500A.

Lost a star because it ...

Lost a star because it didn't come with a stock bolt. I replaced my cheesy ATI six position stock and pistol grip which came with a short bolt. Rather than wait for Midway and Hogue to figure it out, I bought a 5/16x6" hex bolt and a nut (for re-threading the bolt) for a buck. Cut almost 1/2" off the threads with a dremel and the stock went on. Didn't need to replace the fore end, but since the set was on sale, I threw caution to the wind. The hardest part about installing the fore end was remembering the internal receiver assembly. As previously mentioned, the soft rubber on the recoil pad snags on anything. Wrapped it with electrical tape, problem solved.

High value product. It's actually on the cheap side compared to most all other replacement sets but is classic Hogue. Great gripping and ergonomics. The thick recoil pad absorbs a lot but does add some length to the stock. The top front tip to the top tip of the recoil pad is right at 12". If you intend a tactical application, you may want to look at the 12" LOP stock set, and not just for use with armor. The softer rubber on the recoil pad easily catches clothing when quickly bringing it up to your shoulder. However it does NOT come with a new stock bolt. When mine didn't include it (I needed one), I called Midway and they couldn't find in the package inventory that it was supposed to. They made it right though.

I installed the Hogue ...

I installed the Hogue Overmolded stock and forend set (Hogue 05012) on a Mossberg 500 (model 50521) 12 gauge. This model has the Maverick-style one piece forend. You will need to get a 6-3/4" slide tube assembly (Mossberg 12362BL) and the Hogue Forend Adapter nut (Hogue 05020) to do the upgrade. The Hogue forend is a perfect fit with the tube assembly and adapter nut, no trimming was required. Just needed a little Loctite blue for the nut threads. A forend nut wrench (Promag PM163) will make the job easier. The stock was a perfect bolt-on replacement. You will need to reuse the bolt from the Mossberg stock for the Hogue stock installation. Great fit, great product, much nicer than the OEM parts.

This stock was a good fit for my 590A1. I did not utilize the forend, so I cannot comment on it. Though this is a "full-length" stock, it is a little shorter than the Mossberg factory synthetic stock. That's good, in my opinion, as the factory stock seems ridiculously long. I also tried out the Hogue 12" LOP stock, and it was too short for me.

I got this for my 20inch mariner and it fit with no problems or modification ....I think that Hogue has corrected the problem with the forearm needing to be sanded out . I noticed that it was already done at the factory on mine and they added a washer you will need when installing with your existing bolt...the shotgun feels so much better than the standard stock..if you are looking for a great alternative then this is it!!! for the money there is nothing that can even come close to the quality ...now I will say that the stock is thinner than the standard stock plus a little lighter but with the nice recoil pad that comes with the stock it shouldn't be a problem ..and as always great shipping and service with Midway !!!

worked for a month just trying to find a simple butt pad replacement for my 1993 Mossberg mariner ...not so simple in my case ...they changed the stock size to a larger one sometime after 1999 ...so after being frustrated I decided to get a Hogue set ...the quality is top notch and easy to install ...ok for everyone worried about the forearm needing all this work to install ....didn't have to do anything with my set ....I observed that the factory is drilling out the excess plastic at the tip of the forearm to allow easier access with the forearm nut I suppose after hearing all the complaints about it they looked into it, so way to go Hogue ...thanks .....the stock is far better than the stock grips you get on the original weapon and feel is super ...here is a little trick when you install the forearm ...place it on the edge on a desk or table where the two rail arms come out of the tube and hold it flat up against the edge of the table to keep the tube from slipping to one side...if you don't the forearm will look crooked when you install it ....well if you get the stock you will wonder why Mossberg doesn't offer this as standard on more of their shotguns ....
