Product Information

Machined from solid 416 stainless barstock, tolerances held to +/- .001" in critical areas, finish heat treated to 40-42 HRC and cut broach rifled. Left hand 1 in 16" twist with 6 lands and grooves. Barrels are semi-drop in and usually require fitting by a qualified gunsmith. Storm Lake requests that they be contact first regarding any issues with a Storm Lake product.

I ordered this barrel with some trepidation, as I've never fitted a barrel before. Anyway, it took a couple of hours to fit this barrel to my slide. The barrel worked flawlessly at the range and I ran the new barrel pretty hard. With a little bit of common sense and patience, you will wind up with a fine barrel that shoots very well.

I must be lucky because this barrel was a drop in fit for my 1991A1 with no major fitting or tuning required! Significantly improved accuracy over original Colt barrel using different powder loads and bullets. Absolutely no problems.

I installed this Bbl. on a Caspian slide. The bushing needed a lot of work to fit in the slide. The slide stop pin kept the slide from going into battery and the Bbl legs needed about 1/16 in. filed off. This Bbl is not for a novice but the work required was worth it. The lock up is tight and shots 1.5 inches at 25 yards.

I installed this barrel assembly in a ratty Argentine 1927 Colt. My barrel required a small amount of fitting in the hood and throat area. The chamber was cut too small and required re-cutting. I think re-reaming the chamber was too much work for a barrel advertised as semi-drop in, thus my 3-star rating. This barrel does shoot - I am very impressed with the accuracy and tightness of my groups - granted, other modifications were done, but I think this barrel played an important part.
