Hornady makes good products, but this bullet will not stabilaze in my Rockriver match rifle with a 1 in 8 twist. Two other guys I shoot with have had the same results. My groups (10 shots) a 100 yards were around 6 inches, I pulled out some 75 grain Hornady bthp and my group was 1 inch with 9 shots under .7 inches. BTW one of two guys I mentioned above is a High Master.

I use it for target shooting and hunting. Two weeks ago I shot a 13 point buck with the 80gr. A-max at 232 yds. Dropped him in his tracks. A very accurate bullet.

These bullets were a full 2 1/4 minutes higher on the target at 600 yds. compared to SMK-80 using the same powder charge, and in two different rifles and different shooters. Shot from a sling-supported position. A remarkable bullet. All the Hornady and SMK shots were 10 ring elevation. Temp was about 80, charge was Varget and primers were Rem 7 1/2 using LC brass. Overall weight of rounds was around 201 gns. Jump was 0.013"

Just be sure your rifle ...

Just be sure your rifle has the 1 in 8 twist or better, the bullets will not stabilize in anything slower. The box does not have the twist requirement printed on it, at least the box I have does not.

Shoot well. Shows ...

Shoot well. Shows pressure signs earlier than other 80's. 1-8 twist needs maximum loads (to stabilize) and wont work below 40 degrees F in 1-8. Fantastic in 1-7.7 twist temp not an issue dont need max loads.

These bullets in my .223 ...

These bullets in my .223 Savage produced a 3 shot group of less that 1/2" at 200 yards. This combined with a B.C. of 0.453 makes a great combination.

Similar to a Berger VLD ...

Similar to a Berger VLD in design, but it is much less finicky about seating depth. Load about 0.015" off the lands and keep the polymer tip from getting damaged and you can get very accurate results. I'm currently getting < 1MOA groups at 600 yds.

My favorite long range ...

My favorite long range bullet for my 24 inch 1/8 twist AR15. Best 80 gr. bullet out there for the money. I've been able to shoot a 193-11x at 1000 yards with this bullet using Varget powder.

I shoot these bullets out ...

I shoot these bullets out of an AR-15 in Across-The-Course matches for long range. These bullets will easily hold the X-ring at 600 yards if the shooter is able. They perform well in the wind due to the high BC (.453) and are not finicky with seating depth like most VLD bullets. A word of advice: Slide the round completely into the chamber before closing the bolt. Placing the round on a SLED and letting a semi-auto bolt slam the round into the chamber can cause the tip to be deformed as it ramps into the chamber. Single round loading only. Not for magazine length loading!
