Product Information
The Caswell Black Oxide kit is a simple two step solution for blackening steel parts. This solution works at room temperature and does not require heating and does not produce hazardous fumes like hot blackening solutions. This solution will blacken cast iron, mild steel, forged steel, hardened tool steel, and powdered metal parts. For best results the parts to be blackened should be media blasted to remove all rust, paint, oil and grease. The parts are soaked in the black oxide solution for 5 to 10 minutes, and then rinsed with fresh water. Immediately after rinsing the parts should be soaked for 5 to 10 minutes in the penetrating sealer.
2.5 Gallon Kit Includes:
- 2 x 1 Pint Black Oxide Concentrate (makes 2.5 gals of solution)
- 1 Gal Penetrating Sealer
- 1 x 3.5 Gal Plastic Blackening Tank
