I mounted the Burris ...

Comments about Burris FastFire Base Ruger Mark I, II, III Matte:

I mounted the Burris Fastfire on a Ruger Mark II Government model target pistol. I use it exclusively for league pistol shooting and plinking. I'm very pleased that the Fastfire is quite compact in size and very lightweight. As such, the pistol has about the same handling characteristics as it did befoe I mounted the 2 oz. Fastfire, which is something I wanted. The 4'dot works well at short ranges but might be too big for longer ranges. The Fastfire was easy to mount with no drilling or tapping---just use the dovetail slot where the rear sight used to be-- although the Mark II dovetail mount was an extra cost item. I would have preferred a red dot that was adjustable for brightness rather than the automatic adjustable feature but I don't find this a fatal flaw. I don't think this sight would serve well in the rain, as in spring turkey hunting, since the battery and connections are clearly not sealed against the elements.
