This die set includes a Full Length Sizer Die (with decapping unit), Powder Through Expander Die and a Bullet Seater Die which features an adjustable taper to roll crimp. Also includes a shellholder, powder dipper and plastic container. Cases must be lubed prior to sizing.

Good die set for reloading 458 Socom. Finished rounds chamber and shoot well. My Socom upper fitted to a DPMS lower shoots into 1" at 75 yds. Having the option to reload gives a lot of bullet options and a lot cheaper than factory 458's. Another fine lee die set!!

Buyer beware on these dies! I have a RRA .458 SOCOM upper and new Starline brass that are run through the sizing die and will not properly chamber at all. If you do get a round to chamber, then good luck getting it to extract correctly. The rounds are not being sized correctly with the die. There it takes WAY too much effort to even size new brass with these dies. Every time you size you have to worry about a case jamming in the die. It is literally a roll of the dice even using Imperial Sizing Wax or another quality lube on them. I had to send my first set back to Lee and they replaced the sizer but these are just as bad. Avoid these. Check out the Hornady or C-H dies in .458. They both work correctly.

I can say get them. As for stuck cases, I have had a few and see no difference between new or fired brass or that other manufacturers have solved that dilemma. Reason sticking is not being liberal with lube so just plan on a second tumble because of that. My set is 2009 manufacture, 5 star performance, and 100% satisfied with service that LEE offers. For that purpose, all my dies are LEE, Challenger Press, balance beam scale, and trimmer. Consistency is great and is maintained through methodology. For a recreational and budget minded shooter, LEE allows you to minimize some of the things that can make reloading seem complicated and intimidating. I have loaded with this set for 380 ACP, 45 ACP, 22-250, 30-06, 458S, and 45-70.

These dies seem to ...

These dies seem to produce decent quality ammo. No troubles with chambering, case damage or accuracy in my Rock River. I'm not a big fan of their design, as both the expander plug and the seater plug are a 2-piece design where part of the plug floats inside the die body. I'm not sure what they were trying to accomplish with this design, and I have my theories, but I just flat don't like it. The threaded upper half of the seater plug is also made of aluminum, which doesn't impress me much. I'd much prefer a traditional one piece all steel plug. The internal shape of the seater plug also tends to mark and distort the bullets a little bit. I don't know if all Lee dies are this way, as these are the only ones I own. I haven't experienced the severe sticking problems other reviewers have, but they definitely aren't my favorite dies. I went with these dies because of price, and I don't really like Hornady dies either, but I suspect I probably would have been happier paying more for another brand. I'm going to keep them, but RCBS, where were you when I needed you?

Lee 458SOCOM dies are ...

Lee 458SOCOM dies are really a great buy! I have a hand press and with Lee's die lube I have no trouble sizing the brass. The bullet seating plug is shaped for spitzer type bullets and does not work as well for the heavier round nosed bullets. But for a few Fed Notes they'll make a new plug to fit the round nose. Over all they work just as well as any other Lee die set that I own. Very happy.

I have used the Lee Dies ...

I have used the Lee Dies and the Redding they both require using plenty of lube. I am using imperial wax and use a nice thick coat. Use plenty of lube, they will work. I read all the reviews and if you just want to make sure they are going to work. Use a generous coating of good lube and cut back a little as you see fit.

The sizer die problem is ...

The sizer die problem is fixed. The expander die with the set was the problem. The expander plug was too big, I called Lee and they sent me the correct one free of charge in 2 days. This fixed all the problems.

Product performs well. ...

Product performs well. Set-up on an RCBS turret press and was reloading after simple 20 minute set-up. Rounds shoot straight and accurate to 100 yds. Can hit a coke can consistently at said distance. Highly recommended.

Sizing die doesn't work, ...

Sizing die doesn't work, like others have said cases will stick 100% of the time. You can lube 'em till the cows come home, but any case that goes into that die isn't coming out without being ruined. Socom brass ain't cheap either!! Evidently the newer dies being manufactured are the wrong spec. I'm going to keep the set because it's the only one with a flaring die and the bullet seater isn't too bad either. I would recommend the Hornady version they actually work!

I agree with Jason Lazaroff's assessment of the Lee dies. I had the same sizing issue even when I lubricated the cartridge heavily. I had a crimping issue use 300 grain Hornady #4500 bullets...
