The Lee Precision Challenger Breech Lock Single Stage Press Kit is a great kit for the beginning reloader or seasoned reloader looking to add to their reloading setup. This kit contains the popular Challenger Breech Lock Single Stage Press which features an "O" frame design and solid construction making this press a great addition to any reloading room. One of the great features of the Challenger Breech Lock Press is the Breech Lock quick change die system that holds dies in inserts that can be quickly removed from the press. Includes one quick change insert. Popular "O" frame design with a 4-1/4" opening that is angled at 30 degrees for maximum hand clearance. The spent primer catcher is effective and easy to empty. Press is made with an ASTM 380 aluminum frame, steel ram and operating linkage. This kit comes with everything to start loading ammunition except for reloading dies, reloading components, and Lee case length gage for trimming brass to the correct length.

What is the difference between the Anniversary Kit (Item# 423081) and the Challenger Breech Lock Single Stage Press kit (Item# 121744)?

The main difference is the priming feature, the Anniversary kit utilizes a press mounted priming feature, when the Breech Lock Single stage kit utilizes a Lee hand primer and shellholders

This is the kit I chose ...

This is the kit I chose to get started reloading. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality. I didn't have much to spend and went with this relatively inexpensive kit. I feel after using the kit for 100 magnum reloads that if I had spent more money on any other kit, it would have been a waste. I don't reload high volume, but the components in this kit allow one to reload fairly fast. The breechlock makes changing dies very handy; get them set up once and that's it, change them out at will. All I bought in addition to this kit to reload 7mm Rem mag was Lee deluxe die set, a factory crimp die, Lee reloading manual, and a set of dial calipers. I believe lee products to be innovative and well built. I was skeptical solely because of the low price, but in this case, you get an excellent entry level kit. The auto prime, powder measure, and powder scales all work great. Also came with a .22-.45cal powder funnel, 3 breach locks, small and large priming arm (if you wish to prime on the press's down stroke instead of the hand held primer), a Hodgdon load book, and good instructions for all the components. I believe if you spend more on a kit ALL you will be gaining is speed over this kit. Factory loads in my 700BDL never shot better than about 1-1/2" 3 shot groups at 100, and with this set, lee collet die and quality components, has yet to shoot larger than a 3/4" group with lots of .550" groups with a personal best of a .370" 3 shot group.

Likes: The press seems pretty well made and thought out esp. the spent primer catcher. The kit comes w/ everything needed to create a wide range of ammo.While the powder measure has the feel of flimsy/cheesy its quite precise. I was pleasantly surprised!!Dislikes: The scale is VERY poor quality. I replaced mine w/ a Dillon.

This is a great item for the first timer, every thing you need to get started. Just have your brass and powder your on your way to having hours of reloading fun. In just a few days I was loading ammo for target and hunting.Great price for the value.

Highly recommend this one! I just bought another one for my brother in SC. This has to be the best value on the market. I reload my .9mm .40 S&W .45 ACP! In this kit lee, provided me with a powder measure & a Lee Safety Magnetic Powder Scale 100 Grain Capacity with great accuracy. Yes I said it!! With, GREAT ACCURACY!! I will go head to head with any other scale on the market today!! Take a look at this video Reloading Scales Review: Lee Safety Powder and Lyman's Pro 500 Scales Just watch and see!! It is the most accurate scale I could find for the money and the test is spot on. The Lee scale arm balances on a razorblade so it does have a little extra movement but worth it. I've checked out several presses on the market, but Lee seemed to provide far more feedback through the handle, while still providing more than necessary leverage. Also, BIG PLUS....MADE IN THE USA!

I bought this kit as a way to get started and must have loaded 5000 rounds on it. I had never reloaded before and had no one to show me the ropes. However this kit was easy to set up, straightforward, and simple. If you want to get started without breaking the bank this is the way to go.

I have had mine for a while now. I'd guess i've reloaded close to 2000 rounds on it. It works great. I use on .223, 9mm, and 45ACP. The worst part of the kit is the scale, it seems kinda cheap, but it actually worked good and held a pretty good zero. For the price you can't beat it. I have suggested this kit to my own friends and family. Best way to get into reloading. Just remember to buy extra quick change bushings.

For the price you get a really good single stage press. The scale is almost useless, and the powder measure seems flimsy, but everything else seems really good. I've already loaded 1000+ rounds of 223 ammo and have been very pleased with the reliability of the press. Worth getting for the beginning reloader.

Built like a tank! I love this kit. Works very well and its easy to use. The only bad thing in this kit is the powder scale. You might as well throw that thing in the trash and get yourself a digital scale. Other than that its an amazing kit and worth every penny.

I've been using Lee loading equipment for a long time. The first one I got was the basic kit for my .44 mag. If you did not clean the cases well you really had to bang them in but I reloaded hundreds of rounds with it and I still have it. I bought one of the first Lee Load All's for my 12 ga. it cost around $12.00 at the time (the 70's) and I'm still using it and I cannot remember how many shells I've reload with it but let me tell you...a train load. I bought my first Single Stage about 8 years ago or so when I expanded out to more guns and I just purchased another Breech Lock to expand my operation. Yes, I could have gotten a turret press but the Single Stage Press is just a favorite and my grandson can sit next to me reloading his shells at the same time I'm reloading mine. Method to Madness! I've never used other presses and really don't intend to....

I purchased this kit after reading literally a hundred reviews. This has to be the best value on the market. I reloaded my Savage 14 in .270WSM with factory Remington brass, 135gr Sierra Matchking, CCI mag primer, and IMR4350 (also RL-22). Ended up with excellent accuracy. 1.25"@220yards; off a Harris bi-pod. Not only did this kit provide me great accuracy, but even more importantly, cheaper ammo. I've checked out several presses on the market, but Lee seemed to provide far more feedback through the handle, while still providing more than necessary leverage. Why do you need a "rock-crusher" for loading dangerous propellants? Also, BIG PLUS....MADE IN THE USA!

I purchased this kit for reloading 9mm and .357 and I am impressed with how well the press and dies work. The auto prime works perfect and they send a bunch of shell holders for it, that is great. They primer pocket cleaner works fine for me as well, but thats were the good ends. The scale does not work at all, there is no such thing as magnetic dampening on this scale. I spent 45 minutes just trying to get it to zero with no success. The case trimmer is cutting my cases well under the trim to length, as simple as this is there is no way I am screwing it up. I would buy the press, dies, and auto prime again without a second thought that is why I still gave this 4 stars. The scale and case trimmer stuff is a joke. I replaced the scale with a RCBS 505 and I could not be happier. It should be noted that I did not contact Midway or Lee with the scale problems, looking at other reviews will tell you that the scale is junk.

I had been out of reloading for many years and wanted a kit to get started again. This is the kit. I know many people complain about Lee products but no complaints here. Everything worked as it should when instructions are followed. Yes Lyman, Hornady, and RCBS make a fine product and if you have the extra funds go for it, but for a single stage press and everything but the dies to get started the Lee Challenger press kit is the way to go. Want even more tips on using their equipment pick up Lees reloading Manual...
