Timney Sportsman Triggers feature a lightweight alloy housing and hardened steel working surfaces. They are lightweight, rugged and durable. The trigger pull is adjustable from 2 to 4 lbs and is adjustable for creep, backlash and overtravel. This trigger requires the use of the original safety. Minor fitting may be required.

Great triggers - just a ...

Great triggers - just a note of caution. Most modified 1917 Enfields I have come across seem to still need the 6 shot trigger - even if the trigger guard has been straightened - so be aware. This is probably not a rule but the only rifles I have seen that needed 5 shot triggers were the rifles with no floor plates - just a trigger guard.

I put one of these on a ...

I put one of these on a 1914 Enfield custom that I have. Worked great out of the box, broke crisp and clean. Only problem I had was I got the 6-shot trigger and it needed buffing on the bottom to fit in a straightened trigger guard version. If you have a factory belly trigger guard get the 6-shot, if straightened guard, get the 5-shot trigger. I'm getting another for my next project!

The only thing that could ...

The only thing that could be said that is negative at all would be that the supplied spring well filler was rather small for the spring well of my Enfield. I fashioned some ring shims out of some cartridge brass to center the filler. From there on the install was flawless. At the range I found the trigger setup from the factory so close to the pull I like I left it as preset.

This trigger is light ...

This trigger is light years ahead of the stock trigger. The 1917 is a great rifle, but the long take-up on the military trigger always let my aim wander a bit too much. With this new trigger I just have to think about pulling the trigger and it's already fired! Good crisp break, shot after shot. installation was a breeze also! A hammer, pin punch and a hex key are all that are needed, unless you have to cut out your stock a bit like I did. Remove 1 pin, pull the old trigger out, install the filler plate, install the new trigger with the old pin, tighten down the set screw and you're done! Don't worry about the safety not being included, the safety on the 1917 is completely separate from the trigger group.

I've had 3 1917 enfields ...

I've had 3 1917 enfields and all have had the sportsman trigger. This is the first one I have installed because my last enfield came with a military 2 stage trigger that gave me nightmares just thinking about using it (the creep was horribly long!!).The install of the new trigger took about 30 minutes because I had to remove some wood in the stock where the new trigger rested on the old stock. Other than that, the install was a breeze and I don't have to install the cock on opening gadgets that are available. The safety works perfectly as it should, the only adjust I made to the trigger was the trigger pull. I lightened it to the minimum of 2 lbs. and left everything else as it was from the factory. I also did as suggested and added a little dab of locktight. I am very pleased with The Timney trigger.

A fine product that performs as expected. The only consideration in selecting the two trigger options is the final configuration of the trigger guard and floor plate.
