Devastating round

I've shot 2 whitetail bucks with this round. I've decided it's better saved for large moose. The last deer was at 81 yds. I took the shot and walked to where he had been standing. There was about 4" of snow so there was no question about the track. But I couldn't find any blood......nothing??!! I followed the track about 20 paces up the trail to find him in a pile. Curious, I went back and looked more carefully. About 10 yds further out from where he had been standing was a pile of heart/lung tissue about the size of a large canteloupe. This round had literaly sucked the guts out of this buck;s chest and tossed it 10 yds on the other side. Massive internal damage. Complete pass-through. What a caliber!!!

I believe this is the perfect balance of power, accuracy and recoil for a big bore rifle. For reasons I can't explain, the .450 marlin just works. I have yet to recover a 350 grain bullet. A Corsican ram, feral hog , and deer take no more than a couple steps. My 450 just works.

I have two 450's a Browning BLR and A Marlin 1895. I have taken (3) nice white tail bucks and a black bear, the Hornady round performed excellent. Nothing moved more than a step. Both guns shoot 1" groups with this cartridge, recoil will get your attention after a day on the bench..

Ouch.Lit one off on a bull moose. By the time I recovered my hat and glasses that got knocked off and checked myself for loose teeth, the big guy was already down.Hurt me a little to shoot. Hurt the moose a lot more.

As always Hornady has done an excellent job of furnishing those of us with a penchant for shooting cannons, ammo that is accurate and dependable. This load has a substantial recoil but has done an amazing job when put to use. I am confident of single shot kills of moose or bear with this load.

I am not even sure if the average reloader can economically make ammunition this good. Yeah, it kicks a little, but yeah, it penetrates very well!

I love this ammo I got a ...

I love this ammo I got a 450 from my dad who had it custom made from virgin valley arms. I get 1 inch groups at 100 yards. thats the up side. On the down side it causes major shoulder damage and loss of teeth. I havent killed anything with it yet simply because there's not much out here big enough to warrant using such a big gun and getting a moose tag or a bison tag is like trying to pull teeth from a crocks mouth. So I use it on boulders and tree stumps glass and paper and whenever I want to say OUCH real loud. By the way I let my cousin shoot it and it knocked him off the bench. This ammo gets 5 stars because you cant beat it. It PERFORMS !

I haven't used it on game yet (just paper), but I love it already. I just like to fondle the bullets - just looking at them tells you they're awesome. I can sit at a bench and shoot my .300 Wby mag all day with no pain, and five rounds through my .450 MR HURTS!! Like Joe Frazier punching you on the shoulder without a glove. You gotta love it. And on top of it all, ACCURATE!! Going to South Texas to punch holes in some hogs next months - cannot wait to see how it performs.

She kicks some but a real performer. I have used this round on caribou, one shot at about 125 yards juncture of neck and shoulders, piled up never moved again. My partner borrowed my gun and shot a large blackbear with it on a going away shot of about 75 yards. Shot hit the butt and penetrated totally through the body cavity to end up under the hide at neck and shoulder juncture. Dumped him right on his face, another one shot kill. My partner loves this round too.

This is a awesome load! Hornady put together a good round. I was skeptical about buying the Marlin lever gun chambered in this round because it is the only factory ammo you can buy for it at this time. After shooting it in my 1895M with 18.5 inch barrel, accuracy was excellent considering the short barrel. In my gun the recoil was not that bad with the ported barrel.
