Free Spin Pawl allows the shooter to rotate the Ruger cylinder either direction when the loading gate is open. Makes for faster reloading if the cylinder is over-indexed. A must-have for handgun hunters. Requires fitting by a qualified gunsmith. Instructions included. This part fits 2-screw models, and does not fit 3-screw models.

Warning - does not fit ...

Warning - does not fit Old Model (3 screw) Single Six with or without transfer bar conversion! Neither Midway product description nor the instructions from Power Custom stated this and I did not find out until I called Power Custom and they told me it would not work at all. That was after I spent time trying to fit it according to the included instructions so now I am out the price of the item for something I can't return. The $15 store credit helps a little but I am still out most of what I paid for it.

If you have an old model ...

If you have an old model 3 screw single six that has not been factory converted (for whatever reason) this free spin pawl will not work! Sorry! Have one Vaquero .45 with pawl and 2 more waiting anxiously!

I put this in a single ...

I put this in a single six after I messed up the factory pawl. LOVE IT. It is very nice to be able to rotate the cylinder both directions when loading and unloading. I have since put this in all my blackhawks. Fitting will be required, it is not hard or difficult but will take 30 minutes. Be sure that you understand the directions before you start filing on anything. Best mod I have done to the single six.

After installation of the ...

After installation of the Power Custom free spin pawl, the hammer on my New Model Hunter Ruger Single Six hammer would not stay cocked consistently on 2 cylinders. I finally deciphered the hard to read instructions from Power Custom, and down near the bottom of the instructions it says that if the hammer will not cock all the way back you must file a few thousandths of an inch off the flat "shelf" part of the free spin pawl. I did, and it works just fine now. For the record, the factory pawl measurement from the stub pivot shaft to the "shelf" on the pawl was 0.775 inches. The dimension on the Power Custom free spin pawl was 0.777 inches, and the flat part of the "shelf" was at a slightly different angle to the pawl. I filed the shelf down to about 0.773 inches and at an angle similar to that on the factory pawl. It seems to be fine now. And it makes a wonderful difference being able to rotate the cylinder in either direction any time the loading gate is open. I would give it a 3 star rating---minus 1 for the awful, illegible instructions and minus 1 because I had to file it some.

A good product, and a ...

A good product, and a very useful addition to the Single Six. But beware!!! 'Gunsmithing required' is NOT a joke. I spent 3 hours with a diamond file getting the thing to fit just right, and had to take metal off in 3 places. On top of that, the instructions are absolute trash, and have the feel of having been translated from Japanese or something. On the bright side, by the time you're done, you'll have a VERY intimate knowledge of the inner workings of a Ruger single action, and know exactly how to break it down and rebuild it. I had to do it about 25 times before I got all the functions correct, and I've still got a few ahead of me.
