Product Information

The Evolution Gun Works precision 1911 barrel bushings are machined out of solid bar stock. These bushings are oversized and will require fitting for almost all applications. The inside diameter of this bushing is .568" with a straight bore (not tapered). The outside diameter is .699" with a thick flange. The thick flange is .125", more than the mil-spec bushing, offering better support for your barrel.

I put one of these on my ...

I put one of these on my Para-Ordnance P-13. The stock bushing was very loose and poor fit to the barrel. It would spring into lock. Groups were really all over the place. It was good enough for doing 3 gun stuff but I really felt it could be more accurate. I even tried one of the group grippers before putting this bushing in. I took out the group gripper, replaced with a full length guide rod. The EGW bushing fit VERY tight, needing a wrench to turn it in. I took some 600 grit lapping compound I purchased from Midway, applied a dab on the bushing lug and just turned it back and forth. It lapped in quickly and turned very smoothly. I then did the same thing around the barrel to bushing contact surface. I worked the slide back and forth. The barrel now just slips right into battery. Offhand shooting at 15 yards left one big hole that was vertically strung about 1.75 inches in length and just over 1/2" in width. What an improvement. I can now consistently hit empty shotgun hulls at 25 yards offhand with my handloaded 200 gr Rainier HP. I can recommend this bushing to anyone that doesn't want to spend a lot of time fitting a new bushing. I guess my only complaint (a very small one) is the finish. It wasn't very uniform but a quick blast with some glass beads solved that. I'd buy it again even without having a blast cabinet of my own.
