Using an old phone book, ...

Using an old phone book, the penetration of these pellets is better than most lead projectiles that I've tried in this caliber, but the accuracy was not as good. I weighed and measured the diameters on one container of 18 pellets to check. The extreme spread (ES) of weight varied 0.5 grains (3.5% of nominal weight), although most (65%) were at 14.3 grains. The actual mean was 14.27 grains with a standard deviation of 0.13 grains. The head diameters on these same set of pellets measured and ES of 0.4mm (1.6% of nominal) with most within 0.1mm of nominal 25mm. I did not measure the skirt diameters. Sorting mostly for weight to +/- 0.1 grains and removing some for extreme diameters, I ended up with a set of pellets that shot a tighter group - almost half the size of the non-sorted group. This was as good or better than most other lead pellets that I've tried so these will be used for hunting. The leftover pellets after sorting will be used for plinking and penetration testing on various materials. Overall, I like the pellets, but I have to take away a star for too much manufacturing variability.
