The design of the ASP Key Defenders eliminates the likelihood of an individual accidentally discharging an aerosol irritant into their own face. Their horizontal firing system combined with a safety and thumb activated swivel actuator assures discharge away from the individual carrying it. The safety is easily recognized and rapidly released. Discharging the system requires two separate and distinct operations to release and fire the unit. The wrap-around design makes it clear when the Safety has been released and when it is in place. Traditional chemical irritants are little more than specially loaded spray cans. ASP Defenders were specifically designed as a carrying and dispensing system for chemical irritants. Rather than filling a standard spray can with Oleoresin Capsicum (Pepper Spray), the Defenders incorporate a proprietary replaceable aerosol cartridge, specially produced valve system and patented dispensing mechanism. They are precision machined from aerospace aluminum and solid brass. The entire unit is o-ring sealed.

My wife would always ...

My wife would always refuse to carry OC because the locks on the units would always seem to work loose. The lock on these is top notch and has never or feels like its coming loose. The finish on this has held up very well over the past 8 months she has had it. These are great little units that put out a mist of OC, the range is not what they say its more like 3-5 feet so be sure you are close before you use it. The only down side i have with this is that it only hold 4 grams of OC, i have the street defender model which is only a little bigger than this one but it holds 13 grams and shoots 5-7 feet. Overall they are both great units and i would recommend them to anyone.

I adopted the ASP Key ...

I adopted the ASP Key Defender in 2000 after several complaints about the quality of plastic, bulky OC Aerosols. The plastic key chain sprays break, leak, accidentally discharge and are difficult to deploy under stress. The ASP Defenders solve the problems of traditional cheap chemical dispensers and do double duty as an impact weapon. If the attacker is too close, hit him in the eye with the end of the baton or flail your keys violently across the attacker's face. This unit will fire about 8-10 short bursts of a cone shaped cloud out to 6 feet. My Key Defender has held up to 10 years of use. Refilling it is as easy as changing the battery in a flashlight. What I like most about this product is its discreet. The assailant does not know what your holding until you have released the cloud in his face. Excellent product with lifetime warranty I highly recommend. Also the OC solution is 10% OC with 1.33% Major Capsaicinoids. 2 Million SHU so its one of the hottest pepper sprays on the market.
