Product Information

Great for training and practice, this 22 LR conversion kit allows inexpensive target shooting through your favorite firearm. Shoots and functions like the regular AR-15, except the slide doesn't remain locked open after the last shot, with no significant change in weight and balance. Assembly is incredibly simple and only requires replacement of the original bolt carrier. No permanent modifications are required for use. Includes one 26-Rnd magazine. Stainless steel construction offers the benefits of easier cleaning and greater corrosion resistance. For Semi-auto AR-15's only, will not work for M-16's.

Note: Rimfire conversion kits are NOT compatible with gas piston equipped AR-15's. The piston will not allow conversion to fit in the receiver.

Outstanding Product! I ...

Outstanding Product! I purchased this conversion kit several months ago and could not be happier. With CCI Mini-Mags, Velocitors and Federal Bulk ammo, this kit is 100% reliable. My DPMS 11.5 bbl / 1-9 twist will hold a 1" group at 25 yds with the CMMG unit, but is also great for blasting. The kit installs in seconds and is right on the money when I raise my iron sights to the 500m mark. The magazines do have a bit of play, but have no ill effects on functioning. I recommend wiping down the unit and lubricating the rails every 250 rounds.

After about 1000 rounds I ...

After about 1000 rounds I started to notice multiple shots occurring when using this bolt in my AR. The 223 bolt did not have this problem. After disassembling the 22 bolt by spreading the flat area with a knife, I noticed the extractor was chipped on both the top and bottom creating a point. I am guessing it was possible for the extractor to fire the rim fire round because of this. I have not contacted the manufacture yet, but plan to shortly.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would. I have about 400 rounds through this - a mix of 25 year old ammo and two brands of the cheapest bulk ammo I could find and the only stoppage I've seen is when the magazine is empty. This morning at 25 yards I shot ragged holes in several targets. This is everything I hoped it would be and then some. Make sure to read the instructions on how to fit the magazine to your particular lower as mine was too tight until I removed some material from the locations they tell you to.

Installed easily into a new Stag Model 3. Put about 100+ rounds through it the first time at the range. Had a few misfires but I think it was the ammo (Federal bulk). CCI mini mags shot good. However, do not think that this conversion will make your AR15 into a rimfire sniper rifle. At 50 yards my groups were like 4-6 inches. At 25 yards 3-4". Barely adequate for action rifle shooting. Compare to my Volquartsen 22LR with <1" groups at 50 yards.

Recently purchased this product for my DPMS AR15 and love it. The 1st 100 rounds of CCI mini mags were flawless. Switched to Remington Gold hollow points and it ate them too without a failure. The unit came without lubrication of any kind though and it got thoroughly lubricated prior to first use. Cleaning is very easy although I would like to see a bolt hold open arrangement of some kind engineered into the unit for cleaning purposes. I highly recommend this product though. It works great and is really fun to shoot.

Wow...didn't expect it to work so well or be so accurate. I was shocked to say the least. Is an excellent tool for training with an AR for short range marksmanship and also training new shooters with function. Overall great product and very well made. Get extra mags!

This conversion kit functions almost flawlessly in my Colt AR15 rifle. Although the manual states that guns with notched hammers such as the one in my Colt may have problems, I've put several hundred rounds through with very little trouble. One recommendation is to just toss the magazine that comes with this and buy a couple of the Black Dog ones (Product #: 845174 ). Whereas this one did not really fit all that well into my Colt, the Black Dog ones snapped right in and worked very well.

My wife purchased this item for me as a birthday gift. It is awesome. This is a true drop in kit. After reading the instructions I thought I may have a problem because my gun has the notched hammer. This was not an issue. I fired a little over 200 rounds through the unit after giving it a shot of rem-oil. I had one malfunction and this was using cheap ammo.

For what it is meant to be, this conversion does just what it is supposed to do... It is very well-made and sturdy. I'm sure it will last many years. It is not meant to be a target-grade addition to your AR-15; that would be easier achieved with a dedicated upper! However, properly sighted in, it will tear the center out of a target. One thing I would say is that it is ammo-sensitive. The enclosed paperwork suggests the use of Federal 36 gr. plated hp's, and I have to concur. I used some other popular loads and had jams with almost every pull of the trigger. With the Federals, it ran without a hitch... At this point, I have only used it in my 8.5" pistol, but I look forward to trying it in my heavy barreled rifle, soon. A great way to get lots of practice, on the cheap!

Perfect out of the box. Easy to install. Minor sanding as directed on back side of clip to get it to function in and out of the mag well. Used CCI minimags w/o any jams or failures. Shot over 200 rds with a "mule eating briar" grin the whole time. Love it and now all my friends are wanting one. Best investment yet!

I did read a lot of web and Midway reviews on these CMMG conversions to make my decision and compared to the price of a full upper, the choice was easy. Took it to the range made the easy bolt carrier switch and put 200 CCI Mini Mag HP's down range without a hitch. 1/2 inch groups at 25 yards with my Rock River AR and approximately 1 inch at 50 yards. Totally impressed! I even tried some of the Remington Hyper Vipers and Winchester Bulk with about the same result. Again without any feeding problems. I would recommend this Conversion to anyone wanting the fun and inexpensive back, plinking at the range or doing some serious small game hunting.
