Product Information

Berger's Target Bullets are the perfect answer for those longer shots. These bullets feature tangent ogives giving them the advantage of having both a high BC and being easier to tune to the rifle when compared to a bullet with a secant ogive. Target bullets were primarily designed for target shooting but they are also effective on larger varmints. This is not loaded ammunition.

I had been shooting Lapua ...

I had been shooting Lapua 167gr BTHP and getting exceptional groups less than 1/4" @ 100 yards. I thought that was good until I tried these Berger bullets. I fired five 3 shot groups yesterday and it was as if I was missing completely with shot 2 and 3. I measured the groups with calipers and the worst group measured .375 edge to edge. Subtract .308 and that gives a group of .067!!!The rifle used was a Desert Tactical SRS 308 26" barrel with the DTA muzzle break and a S&B 5-25x56 PMII scope. The ammunition was made of up these bullets, Lapua brass, RL-15 and CCI BR2 primers. I really don't see how this can be improved further, but that won't stop me trying. These bullets are exceptional.

Reload these rounds to factory specs via Hodgon reloading data for 308 using benchmark powder and federal benchrest LR primers. 5 shot group at 100 yards outdoor in no value wind. 1/4 moa sustained over 5 five shot groups. Shooting a tactical rifles incorporated M-40 with a Tasco super sniper scope.

I agree...I shoot the 168VLD and it is the most expensive rounds Ive developed for my .06 but the most accurate as well. If you want the best performing bullet to load the VLD is hard to beat. I shoot a 1/10 twist at about 2700 fps.

I'm not the greatest shot by any means but these are some great bullets. At 200 yards got a 5-shot 0.734 inch group using Varget, Lapua Brass, and CCI-BR2 primers. Shot from a Savage 16FLHSS with a Lothar Walther Match Barrel.

I am using this bullet in a handload for my Kimber Model 2400 Advanced Tactical rifle. I immediately noticed an improvement over the Hornady match bullets I was using previously. I've been shooting consistent 1/4" edge to edge or less groups of three to five shots at between 100 and 125 yards. My only complaint (which isn't much of one) is that the size of the hollow points, and/or the bullet length is inconsistent by a couple thousandths- which doesn't make more than that in impact point difference at above said ranges. I would recommend these bullets to anyone who is looking for accuracy and consistent bullet weight. (+/- .01 grn I believe).

I went out on a limb when I first bought Berger LTB 168gr bullets. I was new to hand loading and wanted the higher coefficient with the length tolerance that the LTB's offered. It took me awhile to figure out exactly where I needed my loads to be to perform the way that I wanted them to out of my Winchester Model 70 Stealth. I average 2650 fps to 2700fps with the bullet seat at 2.810 inches O.A.L in neck sized Winchester brass and usually have one or two bug holes of 5 shot groups from 100 to 200yds and 1/2in. or tighter groups at 300yds on a good day. I will admit that it took me several months to find the right setup of the round to make the bullet perform the way I wanted. Berger bullets are on the expensive side but Berger only makes Match Grade bullets which makes them worth it for a serious shooter. You will have to experiment with these bullets and the load to make them perform the way that best suits your rifle but in the end you will be most pleased. These bullets compared to the loads I have developed with Hornady, Sierra, Speer, and a few others put them in the dark and lock the door.
