Gas piston upgrade for your AR-15. Switching to a gas piston operating system from a direct gas impingement one leads to a cleaner and cooler operating rifle. This should lead to fewer malfunctions and considerably more time between cleanings. The OPS-416 kit is a true drop-in gas piston conversion, installing easily in a few minutes with a minimum of tools or technical expertise.

You won't go wrong with the OPS-416. Osprey support is the best not mention the system works perfectly. I would stake my life on it.

Great product! Easy to ...

Great product! Easy to install, took only a few minutes, I love the fact that I don't have to take out the standard AR sight tower and can leave the gun looking stock. Weapon fired perfectly, no issues and cleaning was awesome, needed minimal work and the bolt was almost spotless!However, Midway needs to stock the CA legal version! Osprey was able to switch out my bolt quickly and easily.

Installation was quite quick and easy. I liked the fact that the system uses a more sturdy, solid pin to retain the piston chamber in the gas block, rather than the roll-pin used by other systems, which tend to sheer off under stress. I have found that this kit greatly reduces the amount of smoke and gas I have to inhale when running the weapon suppressed. The two issues I had initially were; 1: the system would only run correctly when it got hot enough to allow the piston to expand, and 2: the enlarged hand-guards which come with the system do not fit together cleanly, leaving a small gap between them where they bow in the middle. As for issue 1: upon contacting Osprey's customer service, I learned that one batch pistons was machined about .001" too small, and therefore allowed excessive amounts of gas to escape, thus reducing the energy available to cycle the system. Customer service promptly sent me a new piston with the correct dimensions, and the system has been flawless both suppressed and not, and on full and semi-auto ever since. As to issue 2: this is mostly cosmetic, I did not ask for a new set, because I was really only concerned with the function rather than aesthetics of the unit, and besides, I plan on changing out the hand-guards for a rail system at some point anyhow.
